Have you done the readings we suggested when you were first here?  I hope so.  They have helped a lot of folks understand the addiction and what it is doing to their minds and bodies!

It is not surprising that you miss cigarettes.  Smoking is something you did many times a day.  You used them as a smokescreen for celebrations, rough times, lo get through lonely times, as a buddy when no one else was around.  They gave you a hit of dopamine that made it all better - for a few minutes.   What you probably don't know is that as soon as you put one out, your brain starts itching for another one and THAT just creates more and more stress.  You have built up associations and triggers in your life around the addiction that must be relearned without smoking.

This is not easy, but it IS doable!  Do the reading, write down why you want to quit, keep in mind things you can do to take your mind off of smoking.  This takes some effort - but it is SO worth it - I promise!

First of all, congrats on 3 days! That's great! I think it's okay that you are missing them. They were a part of you for a long time. Just like a break up, it hurts and you miss them but time will make those feelings fade. So just give it time, you won't miss them at all soon.

congrats on three days.  that is awesome.  In three days the nicotine should be out of your system.  It is okay to miss them for now, But you will get over that also if you start telling yourself that you don't miss them.  You don't miss the stench, you don't miss them taking your money and you don't miss them making you sick. Reverse the thoughts and think about why you want to quit.  Just stay  the cousre and commit not to smoke no matter what. If you should need something to do here is a link that will help

Congratulations on 3 days. The nicotene should be out of your system. It is supposed to be out in 72 hours. You will miss smoking for awhile just like you would miss anything that you had that you don't have anymore! It's the habit part, keep telling yourself that you don't do that anymore and after awhile, you will miss it less and less! One of the benefits I like that wan't mentioned above is, that as I get new clothes they are not getting burned! You are doing this! Keep moving forward!

What are you confused about?  Getting around the site?  Having cravings?  Missing cigarettes is quite normal when we first quit.  Even WITH Chantix and NRT's.  They are simply aids.  They don't take away all cravings.  Cravings lessen with time.  Their duration decreases as does their frequency.  We smoked for many, many years.  That hand-to-mouth-to-mind connection is very strong.  But by changing our mindset, the way we perceive cigarettes and our seeming "enjoyment" of them,  we learn to make them less important.

Three days is GREAT.  You've achieved with just these 3 days so many benefits (even if you're yet unaware of them).  Keep reading on here.  It will help reinforce your decision and give you incentive to keep going.  Your body is thanking you so much right now.

Wow look at you 3 days no smoke...remember when 3 hours was a strech to not smoke. You are doing great. The first 3 days were the hardest for me. On day 4 I realized I could climb a flight of stairs and I was not gasping for air at the top. One day at a time and stay close to this site. Not smoking is a celebration of your new freedom every day....

Jackie took the words right out of mouth.....Do you miss the smell(stench)...the money that just goes up in smoke....the lack of fresh air in your lungs.... well ,you get it.  The days will start to pile up, just say N.O.P.E.    John 154 DOF
