Cheating Myself

I had to travel yesterday out of town due to some wok related to my job.

I reached my destination city around 11am and checked into my hotel room. After having a warm water shower, I headed to the customers place to complete the job.

Luckily everything went as planned and I completed my work by 4pm.

My return flight was late night at 11:50pm. I had plenty of time left so decided to watch the latest movie released a couple of days ago.

On my way to the theater, I changed my plan. I thought that I will go to my hotel room and watch TV and smoke plenty of cigarettes while watching the TV.

I bought a pack of my brand cigarette (20 nos) from the store nearby and looked around. Ooops! my friend who knows about my QUIT is standing there in the corner… I must avoid him.

I walked quietly in the opposite direction and was happy that he didn’t see me. I was at a sharp turn of the road where you can see only about 10 feet ahead and the road disappears.

I walked along and when I was at the turn, I was hit by a bike at great speed! My cigarette packet flew in to the air from my hand and I fell down on my back – hitting my head on the concrete road.

…………………………………….

………………………………………..

I woke up from my sleep this morning with a disturbed mind.

Not feeling good at all. I see the criminal inside you again making plans against me….

I do know how that next morning feels after having one of those dreams! Always remember, it's only a dream. If you're smoking career was anything like mine, it was a long time to acquire so very many smoking memories. Give yourself the benefit and take it for what it is. You are doing a great job on your quit. Nice job, Murali.

Hi Candy,

Actually I had a TBI (traumatic Brain Injury) back in year 2008. I fell down and hit the back of my head (that is what those who witnessed informed me). I had no desire of smoking for about 5 months after that, but again started slowly…. and ended up to one pack a day ….

I was OFF work till late 2010. All wires inside my head were cross connected- at least I felt like that.

It is common in some of my dreams to fell down and hit my head!.

At first I thought "oh no, she smoked" and then realized when you said your friend was standing in the corner that it was going to me a smokemare.    I haven't had one for awhile, but they are awful.  The only good think is being able to tell yourself "it was only a dream, I don't do that anymore".

Stay strong!

Well that's a nasty one.  But thanks to the bike, you didn't smoke!  Nicodemon is always plotting against us.   But as long as we adhere to the Not One Puff Ever Doctrine, we'll always win.  Stay true to your commmitment!
