Car Wash

Yesterday I took my car in for an inside/outside cleaning.  That was Day 27 smokefree.  They did a great job and ended up pulling 7 half empty water bottles from under the seats. Embarrassing, since I try not to use plastic, but I decided to blame that on the nieces and nephews.

When I got home I looked in the back seat and found that they had also found a cigarette and placed it carefully on the seat where I would see it.  Yikes.

I can honestly say that was the closest I have come to a cigarette in nearly 4 weeks.  I held it for a while, squeezed it a little to see how stale it was, and I smelled it.  The I noticed the dime on my seat.  I always think that when I find dimes they are from my dad, who passed on 9 years ago.  I took the cigarette directly to the outside trash can and forgot about it.  Thanks, Dad.

Congrats on 27 days and not smoking that cigarette.   It was in your hand  and you made the right decision.  What a magical moment that your father was there to remind you of your commitment.  Another example of your strength to keep moving forward. Be proud of your success.

Be VERY proud!

Doesn't surprise me, though, because you don't do that anymore!

GREAT JOB! You have taken a HUGE step forward, good for you. Have to laugh that they placed it carefully on the backseat...happy day 27 & thanks to your dad.

You're doing great at 27 days nwtw Having a fresh clean car has got to feel good I'm glad your dad gave you the reminder to throw the thing out. I can't say much about the plastic water bottles I never have bottled water at home yet I still buy them on longer trips

Congrats and great job. You should be proud of yourself.  And what a great feeling to have a nice clean, fresh smelling car.

Love your story about the visit from your dad.  I'm sure he's proud of you for quitting smoking.  Congrats on not giving in...if it were me I would have doused that cancer stick in water, alcohol or something.  In the "old days" I remember digging cigs out of the trash and if I had soaked in water, trying to dry them out in the microwave.  I know, how friggin' pathetic!!!

Congrats on 27 days...huge accomplishment.  I bet your car smells great, too.

What a wonderful conclusion to your story nwtw I am so happy for you that your Dad "messaged" you through that dime. I give you so much credit! The cigarette I found about 2 1/2 months into my last quit led to a full-blown relapse. Luckily, I was able to come back and am at day 51 of this, my final quit. Thankfully you did not take yourself down that dark road!

Keep on keeping on~ Suzy

That made me laugh. Yep, we’ve all done similar pathetic maneuvers.

Congratulations on 27 (now 28) days smoke free.

Nothing better than a clean smelling car.

Enjoyed the part of the story about the dime.

Keep up the good quit.

I really considered dousing the thing in water, but decided that the outside trash should be good enough.  Maybe I was testing myself a little bit too...
