Borrowed words!

On December 23, 1776 Thomas Paine completed "The American Crisis"! His words lent inspiration to a ragtag army, most of whom marched barefoot in the snow. A lucky few had rags tied around their feet! But they boarded boats to cross the Delaware and turn the tide of the American Revelution! These men were willing to pay any price for Freedom!

I am borrowing these words from Mr. Paine in the hope that these same words will lend inspiration to some of you who are feeling hobbled in your own personal march to Freedom! Let no crisis cause you to shrink from comittment! Stand and conquer your addiction to nicotine and cigarettes!

THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.

Thank you for inspiring this G!                                               Tommy

ABSOLUTELY! There is a value in hard work. There is a sense of pride in a job well done. Perseverence is the only thing that will lead to success.

Oh but for those kind of politicians and leaders in our lives today.  What glorious words.  I wonder who their writers were?  lol

You cannot be a summer soldier when iti comes to quitting.  No  fairweather friend  ever became a long-term quitter.  A passing fancy of a quit will just lead to inevitable relapse and a reset of the quit counter.

You cannot put a price on the freedom gained during this flight  from addiction.  For it is indeed priceless.  The journey will try your soul, but your soul with be strengthened. "The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph."  You'll only truly grasp that when you're there.

It is hard but so worth every bit of the hard work.

Thanks Tommy!      I agree with the nice ladies above too (all SOLID quitters by the way!).         It makes me sad to hear "I'm not ready to quit yet" or "it's too hard right now".  I had tried numerous times and the reason that it "worked" this time is that I worked my quit!

So, Newbies and those Coming Back Again.....look around, see those that are walking this path whether it be barefoot or with rags.....and follow them!       No ones reasons for smoking or difficulty in quitting is any better or worse than any of the rest of us.

Love you Soldiers one and all!
