It looks like it's been almost a year since we had a bonfire and it looks like we have alot of new people here as well.  I could throw one in 2 weeks if there is an interest? We can chase the winter blues away LOL

I would LOVE to have one!  I have thought of it off and on, but I don't DO numbers, so the idea was always intimidating to me.  I can help, too - if I don't have to use numbers!

By way of explanation:  I was the lead for our 1100 person university campus charity campaign, and I had to separate the money into categories of cash, check and payroll deduction, total each sheet, then tally the total - daily.  I did not have a calculator with paper, and there were days I must have totaled the sheets and grand totaled the day 25 times and could not reproduce even a single tally.   I have NEVER been so frustrated and I swore off numbers after that!

Great idea.  Let me know how I can help.  Since we're limited now in our photo shopping abilities, perhaps we could encourage people to put up their OWN photos?  Or maybe ....?   Too bad we can't have an "Elf Yourself" type of thing where there's a photo of a beach and a bonfire and a person or two and we could add our own image in there.  Like a beach party generator or something using Movavi or????  Mark‌ Any ideas?

Hmmmm, there's an idea.  We could find a beach hat image, perhaps and stick our own faces in???  Depends on how difficult that would be.  Well, the more computer savvy could probably do it.  'Course the guys probably wouldn't want the earrings!  lol  For them we could just put some underwear on their heads, right?!  LOL

Or - we could start taking our OWN photos  - anybody got a closeup of flames in a fireplace?   Handfuls of cigarettes?  Hot chocolate?    Blankets?  Selfies?

Based on Mrs G idea, we can have a costume party, and update our profile pics with whatever character we want to be!!!

Whatever will be, I'll attend, count on me, and please Shawn let me know how I can help!

I'll have to think on this one.  Giulia

ShawnP I did wonder if maybe you request this time that people put just their quit date in their post and the # they smoked/day on average when they were smoking. If people want to compute their own cigs avoided as well, great but not necessary and they can focus on the fun of the Bonfire.  That way you can keep a consistent running total from start to finish by writing down username, quit date and avg cigs/day only. And this way also you can put a summary post at the end with each member and their contributions and we can see how many attended.  A wonderful thing .

our best bet for costumes or characters (with hot bodies lol) is face in the hold.. You can use theirs or create your own. This would probably be less work for anybody. i could play around and create some. take a gander there and let me know what u think.

i am sure they could be pretty comical too hahahahah   FACEinHOLE® - Who do you want to be today?

i do think that most like to put their amounts in but i also know there can be errors in calculating. Putting the days and number of cigs is a good idea . i started a spreadsheet last year that i can use that has running totals. i had inputed that info so everything wasn't hand written.  i do like the summary at the end too.

This really is a lot of fun!  This is picture I took of a girl in a pool and I just put my cat's face in its place.  How cool is this program!  The more you practice with it, the better adept you'll become.  I love the fact that you can rotate it to match the angle of the head tilt.

You know I'm good for helping with a document to help record it all.

Yes, having those simple items help reduce error in calculations and makes sure they're all consistent. I also have the form option as well.

I like the bonfire but so new it would feel weird to be so "close" to source of addiction, even tho we would be burning it.  Today is day 5.  OMG I still can't believe it and am grateful!  Last night I took the dog out to go potty and as I moved a container on the porch, a "butt" was underneath it.  I said to myself out loud...."do not even think about it....i picked it up, crushed it, ran it under water and put it in the trash....".  Yes that is where I am at.  I thought I was totally cleared out and there it was.  Later, I reached into a coat and found one more lighter.  As if holding a hot potato, I submerged it in a cup of water and covered with a plate and walked away to do something else.  Hours later when I had forgotten about it, it went into the outside trash.  I am taking all of the advice on this site and so glad I was on chantix to quit.  I kinda wish I still were on it, but it is ok.

Good for you.  You're listening to those who have "been there, done that."  Wise move!  Hang tight taraanne

Day 57

About the Author
I am 51 yrs old and live in the Greater Cleveland area. I started smoking at a young age. I think it was more peer pressure at that time and just a few cigarettes a day until i became "LEGAL" to smoke. I then started smoking a pack or more a day, using stress as my excuse to smoke more. In reality, I realized after i quit smoking that there is no excuses for smoking. I am approaching 4 yrs next month, but I still have to work to protect my quit. I am here on Ex faithfully helping others and in return helps me. We call it here on Ex "Collateral Kindness" here is a link to my blog, 1 yr later that explained my trials in the the beginning of my quit. https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/blogs/ShawnP-blog/2013/03/14/one-year-later
