That's exaclty how I feel...back to day 1 today...because I was drinking!! and choose to be around smokers, ...you know the rest of the story,  If i remember when I quit for 8 months...I pretty much didn't leave the house!...wow I was almost at 2 weeks...I wasn't going to post anything, because I beat myself up pretty bad already..I"m really upset with myself, as i set here and cry...damn it!

No need to beat yourself up just start over. Addiction is very cunning and powerful. Don't let one day mess up your total mindset towards your quit. Even if you decide to smoke for a litttle while get right back on your quit as soon as possible. Staying isolated isn't good either. Work toward a balance and practice seperation excercises start back at the basics. You'll find the strenthg and courage. Good Luck!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Simply start over. Alcohol will get ya everytime! You just needed more time. 🙂

You are not the first and you will not be the last to have a relapse. The important thing is that you learn from it and then get back to your quit ASAP a little wiser and stronger. I am an October quiter ( day 11 ) and there are several us here, we would be proud to have you join us in our efforts.

Okay - you know why - so, decide to not make that mistake again. No drinking for a while! (It really does cause many a fall!) Also - promise yourself that you will come here FIRST and post if you are having a problem and then wait for responses. Congrats on juumping right back to it and being on day one!!!

Hey, it's not  a complete loss. I know it sucks to have to start your clock over, but you're not completly starting over. Your lungs had almost 2 weeks to heal and repair dammage smoking has done. It doesn't seem like a whole lot, but it is something. Just jump right back in there and allow them to continue to heal from here. You have learned a good lesson from this, just take advantage of it. Use it to make you stronger in this quit.

Did you ever stop to think that drinking causes the drink-ee to lose their inhibitions??

That was your mistake.

Honey, I'm sure you know the mistake you made by drinking. I'm with the others in saying stop beating yourself up. It doesn't accomplish anything.

Aztec wrote a poinant and spot-on article about a "slip" vs a "relapse". You slipped. You know why. You'll not drink the next time until you've had more of a quit under your belt.

I'm really impressed you got right back on. So many don't.

You can do this, honey. This time you'll know better. Our mistakes are to learn from.

My father used to tell us as kids, that's why they invented erasers on pencils. Erase it. Get back on the horse. We'll still be here for you....

If at first you don't suceed try, try again... Tomorrow is my start date, I have failed numerous times over the years.  In the short time I have been on this site I feel a strength and determination that I can't say I've had before.  Just think about learning how to ride a bike, how many times did we fall?  Plenty for me.. But we got back on and eventually we learned how to ride that bike.  Just keep getting back on regardless how many start dates it takes...  You'll make it  🙂

Go to owlfeather's page and read about what that  one puff does to our bodies.  It may change your mind about "one" in the future.  Print it out and keep it nearby!  No need to stay away from everyone and everything for 8 months!  But you do need to give yourself time to adjust to being an ex smoker.  Drinking?  killed many a good quit.  Maybe you could find out from others around here how they dealt with that trigger.

Good for you for coming back here and getting right back on your quit!

I quit smoking in August of last year.  After a few months, alcohol was the only trigger left.... I quit drinking in January and have had no problem since... Yeah... its that important to me.  More importantly.. it worked and I don't even miss it.
