I posted this back on my 5th day of not smoking... thought Id share it for new quitters...

I dont wake up hackin up fur balls every mornin

I don't cough now- cept an occasional "junk in my lungs release'

I saved about 30.00

I don't get stressed out about HAVING to go outside

or get hot in the heat

or If I have enough smokes to last til tomorrow

I am more layed back, not edgy

Zoey isnt sneezing

I dont smell like smoke

I smile more

I CAN SING REALLY LOUD WITHOUT COUGHING

i DONT FEEL RUSHED TO HURRY AND EAT FAST just so I cango out and smoke

I took the trash out today without getting winded WOW

I cleaned the whole salon without a break.

Im not "hiding" in my cave, or in my back yard puffin my life away

Ive made positive choices'

My best friend quit smoking too

I was more relaxed when doin nails yesterday (more productive)

I dont have to blow my nose 5 times in the mornin, every mornin

My voice sounds better

Dont have to clear my throat all day long

Curl my nose up in disgust when I even smell smoke

My 5 days without smoking have brought me so much...

This is just what I notice, off the top of my head 🙂

You have a grip on it.  Congratulations.  Stay strong.  Just today I had the feeling of wanting a cigarette.  What stops me is I don't want to ever go through the initial agony and starting over.  Wishing you the best.  You got this!

My day 5

My throat is less sore.

My mouth is less dry.

My tongue feels different.

I can breathe easier.

My resting heart rate is going down each day.

Tomorrow the high temperature is supposed to be in the teens and I won't be out there freezing my **bleep** off to smoke.

I don't feel guilty about my neighbors having to smell cigarette smoke from me.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to post that I am 6 days free from vaping nicotine and I am doing so good! I am:

1)Not always looking for my vape.
2)Haven’t had to go buy a vape.
3)Saved around $40.
4)My husband is loving it!
5)My family is SO proud of me!
6)Not waking up craving my vape.
7)Not wanting to go buy the next best flavor of vape.
8)I feel better overall.
9)I am SO proud of myself!
10)Able to leave the house and not worry about where my vape is.
11)Not asking anyone or have anyone ask me to try there or my vape.
12)My mind is more clear.
13) I feel better, healthier!

These are just a few things I am experiencing and I couldn’t love it more! I have already started proving to myself that I CAN BECOME AN EX!! Thank you to the EX COMMUNITY for helping me along my journey!!!!😁😆🙃😉

March 14, 2022. Technically my sixth day, but

  • Smokers flu is pretty much gone.
  • No more sore throat and raspy voice
  • No more feeling like I was hit by a Mack truck.
  • I can taste a little better.
  • I don't stink anymore!!!
  • I can smell current smokers very strong so I must be able to smell better, too.
  • I am not missing out on my life.
  • I feel like I can actually do it for the first time.

If you have to start over which I pray you don't keep trying.  It will work out. Praying for your health as well.  I've had 30 surgeries 7 of them on my spine.  I have a spinal cord implant.  I'm saying this because you are going through a difficult time.  I've been there and still going through a lot,

Thank you so much. Your comments were inspiring and helpful. I’m going to make my own list now. I was feeling bad because I smoked and had to start over to day one. Feeling inspired today

Many thanks from Arizona

Thanks for this post! Today is my day five… I’ve made it thru several triggers without losing it.  When I smell smoke on people lately it makes me nauseous so I guess that helps.

Still hanging in there!

Today is my 6th day quit. I smell better. I am not getting second hand smoke on my son, family or pets. I saved money. I’m not sneezing or coughing or coughing anything up. I am not always “rewarding” myself for every little thing with a smoke break or completing tasks with the finishing touch of a smoke. I work in a Dr. Office and patients don’t smell smoke when they check in. I don’t have to be embarrassed and ashamed of my smell and try to hide it with perfume essentially just smelling like smoke and some kind of flower. My tongue feels like it’s getting back to normal and not rough from the smoke. It is also going from grey to pink as each day goes on.

@Barbscloud Thank you. I think I’m on a day in the teens now! It makes me nervous to keep track of the number everyday but I know I haven’t smoked since quit day.

Hope all of you are doing well on your quit journey. Just wanted to check in and read a few articles again

You are on the right road for you.  Don't expect someone who is not on the same road as you are.  You are a success story every day you don't smoke.  Sometimes people are jealous of what you are doing.  It's your time and your journey.  You got this!

@Kailuapeach That's fine.   There are other's who have found being on the site often  makes them thinking about smoking.  Just keep up the good work.

So proud of your success.

Although I saw your responses on some blogs, I fear most in the community may not.  To remedy that, I recommend you write a blog to introduce yourself to the community (Ex Community-top left; center blue box-"Post a Journal/Blog").  You might include your smoking history, why you want to quit, your quit date if you have set one, and anything else about yourself you care to share.  You will reach a wider audience this way.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for contacting me.  I do need to do a blog.  Right now I'm packing for a trip.  When I can I will definitely do a blog.  The difference in my quit was becoming a member to the EX Community.  Praying all is going well when you get this message.  Hugs!!

I’m on day five, more me it’s because I broke my foot in two places in august and never healed, because I’m 53 and post menopausal and mainly because I smoke!! My doctor said I need surgery to rebreak the bones and put pins in, but he would not do the surgery on a smoker because it would take forever to heal. So I put my mind to it and I’ve been smoke free for 5 days and have no plans of ever going back!!!

You got this.  It's hard but I can tell your determination will see you through!  A lot is the thought process.  On occasion I think about smoking, then I'm like nah it too much to get where I am.  Day by day.  Sometimes it's minute by minute.  You will get through it.  I stopped for my health and don't regret it.  I hope on my dying day that I won't ask for one.  Stay strong!

Day 6, on the patch work’s unbelievable. Triggers are minimal when they come it’s of a surprise but I shake it off. These are triggers I never knew were there like watching tv or being on the laptop.
I’m happy glad I joined Ex with all the support. Breathing is showing improvement, I can’t believe with the right support I’m doing this.

@kenbe57 This is an older post but glad you got to participating. And I'm glad you're here using EX for support. Several of the people on this thread are still active so I'm sure you'll get some replies.
I look forward to more updates from you as you progress through your journey and finish your first week. Keep posting here.

To reach a larger number of current community members, it would be a good idea to post on the most active part of the site (Ex Community-top left, then center blue box "Post a Journal/Blog").  I look forward to seeing you there.

And - congratulations making it almost through what we fondly call H#ll Week!  That is a BIG DEAL!!!!!  Keep going!

Wow! It is like you wrote my story! I live in NYC and often I would have to go out at 2,3, or 4am just to be sure I had my morning cigarette. That includes walking through blizzards and heat waves not to mention the danger of walking along alone in NYC. I have not used my Albuterol rescue inhaler once. That amazes me. I take my cig money and transfer it into a special account I opened just for this purpose. So far I have saved $75 (15 x 5). Tomorrow, my sixth day, I will have enough money to purchase the Optimum Core Sports Package I have wanted the past 2yrs. That is awesome!!! I will continue diverting cig money into the same account and watch it grow! Money is a great motivator. I have to admit I have had virtually no trouble quiting at all. I rarely do think of cigarettes but what I do is immediately read my reasons for quitting list and they pass quite easily. My apartment no longer stinks of smoke. My clothing no longer stinks nor does my breath. Everything just feels better without smoking. Guilt and shame are gone as my anxiety levels continue to drop. Thank God my love of sports (Optimum Core Sports Package) trumps my urge to smoke cigarettes!

@crooklyn528  Now, you actually have something to SHOW for your $$$.  Makes so much sense when you think about it.  You are to be commended.  Better and healthier choices for all of us, going forward.  You are almost finished with hell week.  Keep adding up the days and thank you for sharing all your positives.  You never know who this can help.  Quit day 304.

So glad you are keeping track of both your reasons for quitting and the benefits. It will hold you in good stead!

Congrats on conquering H#ll Week!
