Been gone a while

Hello everyone, It has been a while since I have been able to get on here, I have been in the hospital and very sick for over a month. Sadly, I have to say I have not reached my quit yet. I am not giving up, and I feel like a disappointment to everyone including myself. I actually found it very hard to come back and admit I had not quit yet. I know so many of you have taken that step and are working hard to keep your quit. Take it from someone who blew it, do whatever it takes to hold on to your quit, smoking again only brings tremendous stress and grief and guilt to yourself. I am just going to hang out, get info and read the blogs, hoping to find encouragement and pull strength from them to begin again. God Bless to all.

Sometimes all you need is to stop thinking it through and just jump in.  It took someone calling me out on it to put me over the edge and I went that day, got the patch, bought gum, candy and quit the next day.  I am on day 8 and wish I could say it is all easy but it's not.  Don't be ashamed...be determined.  Just pick a day and do it.  I made the choice in the heat of my shame and went home to talk to my son (my biggest motivation) and he has been simply marvelous.  Everyone here is great at encouragement so I am giving you mine.

I overanalyzed and made every mass rationalization that I could for years.  You know what?  Doesn't really help in the end.  I was holding onto something bad for me because I know that it was one thing I could control in my life.  Now I am realizing how much it controlled me.  Funny how even though my mind is playing tricks on me and trying to rationalize going back to smoking, my resolve is getting stronger.  I pray that I can continue my plan.

I pray that you will find your resolve and just jump in.  Removing that anchor from around my neck has not been easy but I think if I can just conquer this then I can conquer anything.....maybe this is the stepping stone I needed to see how strong I am.

I am in the mist of reading Allen Carr's book and I am also signed up with the Florida quit line for phone support. I also have joined the American cancer society , whyquit and one other Florida help group. Thank you all for your encouraging words and prayers. You are right, i need a bit of refreshing, I will not stop till I get to where it is I want to be " A Non-Smoker". i will say one thing, quitting can't be any worse than what I am going through now with the guilt, stress, anxiety and disappointment which is all leading to a bit of depression. Of course I think I am just out of sorts a bit for being sick so long, just need to re-group.

Keep your quits, It is pure hell when you blow it!!!!!
