BANANAS AND WITHDRAWAL

Read a very interesting article yesterday about bananas. It seems because they are full of vitamin B6 & B12 plus they have potassium and magnesium they may help with nicotine cravings. Not sure if it is true but I do eat a banana every morning  and I remember my cravings weren't as bad as I thought they might be. Or maybe it was all in my head but it might be worth a try.

Anyway whenever people talk about my age I always reply "1 foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel." Everyone have a fantastic smoke-free Saturday.

Terry

PS: Saw my first robin of the year yesterday so that tells me spring is close at hand and it brings with it a new beginning.

At my annual physical 2 weeks ago, I told my doc I was having leg and foot cramps waking me up in the middle of the night.  She asked me if I still ate a banana every day, and I said I'd stopped eating them last year trying to lose some of the weight I'd gained after my quit.  She told me to start eating one a day, and the magnesium would stop the cramps.  Sounded crazy to me, but I haven't had a cramp since.

20190313_111506.jpgPicture of my yard yesterday (the squirrels naturalized my crocus and relocated them all OVER the place!)  I had robins here off and on all winter - don't know what THAT's about - but haven't seen one lately,

I saw flooding reported in your state - hope you are on higher ground away from the rivers!

I had leg cramps when I walked for awhile, and magnesium cured that, too!  Don't know about cravings - but I eat 1/2 one every day and have for years.  You might try just doing 1/2 to lower the calories and see what happens.

Happy Spring!

I too eat a banana every day & haven't smoked in 14 years, 5 months & 2 weeks. Coincidence?? I think not.

Hmmmm, I don't eat them because I find them hard to digest but I do miss them.  I think my husband eats 4 or 5 a day which is seriously challenging to carry home from the store.  They are VERY heavy.  I was told that if they are ripening too quickly (which is rare) that the best thing to do is to wrap the stem end tightly with saran wrap.  The cashier told me that all of the organic bananas arrive that way.  I did it when I bought some that I was afraid MIGHT ripen too fast but they didn't have a chance because my husband ate them before they started to ripen at ALL.

Wow Ellen elvan‌, that's a lot of bananas per day!  Hopefully the potassium ingested does not interfere with any of his heart medications, or any other supplements he is taking.
