I woke up this morning, smoke free. Well maybe not TOTALLY smoke free, but y'all get what I'm saying. Smoked my last smoke at 10:56 last night and rid my house of all smoking crap. I actually feel pretty good. I know, I know, it's only been a few hours and only like 2 that I've even been awake for, but every minute without a smoke counts ( =
I woke up around 3, like always, looking for my smokes, but I just grabbed some water, went the the bathroom and went back to bed. Didn't even miss it. This morning I got up, slapped on a patch and am on my way to make breakfast for my kids, who are supporting me all the way. Just wanted to leave an update on my very first morning with no cigs... I'll jump back on later tonight and let everyone know how my first day went... I have a party later, and midterms to cram for, so it's a whole bunch of firsts without smokes... wish me luck! I think I'm gonna be alright......

Hey, good luck! When the urge hits you take a deep inhale of fresh air and a long slow exhale. It's kind of a temporary substitute, especially since you're doing NRT.

Stay committed to your decision to quit as much as you stay committed to raise those absolutely precious children you have, and the best Mama you can be. One minute, one hour at at time right now. It DOES get easier. Using a patch will start the process of realizing we can go through our days and not light up. It helps to get rid of the "act of smoking." And...you are right, there is NOTHING to miss about killing yourself in front of your kids. Nothing to miss about teaching them out how to be addicts with ourselves as examples. So you keep going! You've got a lot to live for and be there for! 🙂 From one single Mom to another, I'm proud of you! Big time! Stay well rested with all that you have going on, it will help the quitting process.

Jen,

Make a decision not to smoke and you will be successful. You can do it - make the choice.
