Another day

So I am now on day 5 of being smoke free. I actually quit one day before my planned quit date. I am absolutely exhausted, I've been going out early every morning and working ALL day in the heat, planting flowers and weeding flower beds etc. My body aches like I've been ran over by a bus, BUT I am no longer smoking. Staying busy is key with me. The nice, encouraging comments I have received from members of this group give me hope and I am thankful for them all. Here's to being a ex smoker

Big congrats on day 5 smoke free.   Sounds just like me.  I  stay busy anyway, so when I quit I needed to keep busy.   But, watch for the reward cigarette--for some, that one is tough.   When I'd take a break, it was smoking time!.   I still come to the Ex and read when I take a break.  I really helps.

Congratulations on day five, that's AWESOME.  Just think, when you are able to just relax, you will be able to admire all of your work.  It DOES get easier, those first days can really be challenging.  Stay close, we have all been there...you can't have a long term quit without having a beginning.

I think that's why I'm exhausted. Every time I sit down to cool off and rest, I think about a reward cigarette and I have to get right back busy. This is rough stuff lol

And YOU will smell like flowers instead of stale smoke!  THAT is an amazing reward!

Celebrate each and every single day WON! And we will celebrate with you, for sure.  I love that you're keeping busy. I quit in winter, so my "busy" was crocheting.

Congrats on 5 days! I'm just behind you. I TOTALLY understand the feeling of a smoke as a reward! I never thought them as reward smokes, but they sure were! Remember the true reward is really the sense of satisfaction that comes from putting in effort to accomplish a task-- so revel in that! Try to see if you can find other healthy ways to reward yourself when you need it.

I also wonder if you should find some new ways to relax? (Think rewards!) IMHO I feel like if you keep going and going and going, you're going to wear yourself out, and I can't imagine that will be helpful to your success. Last night, I made myself a cup of decaf tea with lemon and enjoyed that just sitting at the kitchen table, scrolling the EX feed and sipping it slowly. I feel like it will be easier and easier as I teach myself new ways to find peace. (The old way wasn't really that. It was keeping me from that.)
