After doing the chantix for the first three weeks I had a break down and had to get off. I then went back to my old habit, did this for a week ......Didn't like the fact that the addiction won was controling me ..... so I called the doctor and was told could lower the dose to half . I only do once a day so I can sleep at night and I do not have all the side affect as I did doing the whole pill twice a day...... I have reache my third week and the chantix helps but I Still have to fight the wanting to smoke so I thought If I got on here and made some friends who were in the same boat as me it might help to not go anrd reach ....

Welcome, Kat! You are in a good place. I used Chantix for my last quit and could only take half a pill once a day, but it worked quite well for me. I only went off it because I though I had it licked...and I didn't. I didn't use it for this quit because when I started taking it again it gave me terrible mood swings, so I'm sticking with the losenge. Anyway, I still think it's a great medication. It really helped me the first time. Keep your Dr. informed if you have any concerns! Have you quit smoking yet? Regardless, the medication won't totally remove the desire to smoke, just the rush you get from it, thereby decreasing your physical link to smoking. The mental part, the habit part, will still be there sometimes and that's okay. That's what we're here to help you with. There are terrific people here that are ready to support you. I'm glad you're here!

Hi Kat, I don't know the facts about Chantix..but I am here if you need support or someone to talk to keep you from picking up that cigarette. I am not going to tell you it is easy to stop, but it is possible. I'm taking one day at a time. Try joining the PLEDGE TO QUIT DAILY with the MAN OF STEELE. I just did and it made me feel that I have the power over the cigarettes.

Welcome Kat
I have been using Chantix for two weeks now and I haven't had any problems. I am on day two of a smoke free life and feeling great. I use the vices that everyone suggests, I am pledging daily and praying daily and so far so good. You can do it. It's nice to have you here. Hugs and Support !!!!!

There are all kinds of ways to quit smoking and all kinds of ways to succeed. Commitment is the key to any successful quit. Use all the tools you can (not just the medication). The Ex site for triggers and how to deal with them is good- may help you get through mental craves that the medication likely won't help with!
