Almost a week !!!!

The cravings are still here...
Just not as bad & not as much..
I still think of getting a pack of cigarettes..
Smoking just 1 & all will be fine.
I can only have that 1 smoke & go back to no smoking...
But why ???
I came up with a cool saying...
"Stop smoking is not gonna kill me...But going back to smoking likely will"
I need encouragement....

Are you still using a E-Cig?  Does it have nicotine in it?  If so, you will continue to have cravings/withdrawals from it.  If so, my advice would be to make sure you have a plan in place to stop using it eventually.  Best Wishes.

I agree with Ladybug--7-3-12 .. and I agree with your new motto 2112miller a very true statement

I  suggest that you read the book by Allen Carr, "They Easy Way to Stop Smoking."   While none of us think it's easy (at least not in my experience), this will give you a whole new understanding of your addiction. The craving for MORE nicotine was set up by the LAST time you used it....so vaping is going to self perpetuate the craves.  The only way to stop them is to stop using nicotine.  If you really don't think you can quit without some help, the patch is a better alternative.  It lets you, over time, reduce the amount of nicotine you are getting so the withdrawal from it is more gradual.  As long as you are getting that "hit," you will continue to crave for the next one.

You also need to accept that there never, ever, EVER is going to be such a thing as "just one" puff or one cigarette.  It will always, maybe not right away but always, lead you back to being a full-time smoker.

Almost a week is GREAT!

I agree about the Carr book. Coming up with sayings to use is great! I took the motto - N.O.P.E. - NOT ONE PUFF EVER and wrote it on several index cards. I carried one with me and had others posted in my house. It really helped!
Congrats on your quit!

I used NOPE as well.  I had many unsuccessful quits in the past and I had never heard NOPE.  When I saw it here, it was like an epiphany, I could not believe I had never heard if before.  I said it all of the time, out loud, softly, just inside of my head.  It was so simple to remember that word.  I also ate Sour Patch kids because they were so sour that they changed my focus from wanting a cigarette to thinking about how much I liked that candy...I will admit that there were some times when I ate so many that my mouth was sore,  I also ate frozen blueberries and cherries and I LOVED them. I drank so much water that I was always heading for the bathroom.  It DID and it DOES get easier, it will for you too.

Remember this is a journey. You are doing very well in making it a week.  But there will be many ups and downs during the journey for many months which is why you need to keep coming here and continue to educate yourself on what nicotine does to your body. The people on this site will guide you and I know that I could have not done this without the people on this site.  Just one day at a time and stay in your day because if you start projecting down the road it gets harder. At least that’s how it worked for me. But as long as I stayed in my day it was doable.

Great job on week won! Yep, it's a hard job, weird at times, and you are so right to see it as one day at a time.  Keep up the good work.

You got this man!! You are stronger than the addiction!! It’s hard to imagine yourself ever happy again huh. Like we are always gonna want a cigarette. I am reading the book they mentioned above and I am really liking it so far because it is teaching me more about my addiction than I ever realized. It’s comical sometimes the realizations and that I haven’t made them before!! We will be way happier as non smokers!!!  If you don’t like to read, he has seminars that are online now, might check that out. Probably still cheaper to attend than to keep smoking. Might also have an audio version of book, not sure.
Have a great night and stay strong!!
