Allen Carr Book

Have read the first 6 chapters(I'm a fast reader) and I have noticed that Mr. Carr states that there is no pain involved in withdrawal.  In the past I have experienced literal physical pain after about 4-6 hours even with a replacement product, I am hoping he will clarify later in book, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this pain and how it was dealt with.

If you have actual pain, you may want to talk to your doctor about this before you quit. Have you tried Chantix? I am using it right now, and I think it has made a real difference for me. Not everyone agrees that it helps, but of course everyone's body is different. Once again, good luck and I will keep my fingers crossed for your success!

I didn't experience any particular pain when I abruptly stopped using nicotine. Typically, it's just fairly mild flu-like symptoms, really not that big a deal. A lot of us experience some chest congestion as our bronchial tracts and lungs come back to life and start clearing out some gunk.

What kind of pain did you experinece?

More of discomfort than pain for me.... I bought and read Carr's book years ago, and it didn't help me. The man makes several good points, yes, but when you think about it, it's all more common sense than anything. I have been nicotine-free for three months now, quit for four and the discomfort has passed. Repeat after me: "The discomfort will pass... the discomfort will pass... the discomfort will pass... " ... etc.

For me, Oh there's pain alright.  It's so painfully uncomfortable that it is downright horribly PAINFUL.  If there wasn't pain, I'd walk right off cigarettes.  The discomfort is so bad, I'd climb walls....  but when I weaned down gradually many years ago with SmokEnders, by cutoff day, I did walk right off with very little discomfort.  Nicotine is one very powerful drug.
