Addiction

Someone I love was just diagnosed with lung cancer. He's still smoking. This addiction is ugly and cruel. To keep doing what you know is killing you.... even after getting a death sentence from your doctor.... its just twisted, but that's how strong this addiction is. Heck, I smoked for YEARS after my mom went on oxygen for her COPD. If you've set your quit date, or are newly quit..... this is life or death. No excuses.

BLOG here if you think you might light up, so that we can help you. This addiction is clever, but we can beat it..... and we can help each other.  I HATE this addiction, and I think all of us deserves freedom from it.  Don't let it trick you, don't let it fool you, don't let it pull you back in......  Not One Puff Ever.

We deserve to breathe.

You are so right; the addiction is ugly. It turns our thinking upside-down.  Sorry for your friend.  I don't know the prognosis, but perhaps at this point he just needs someone to hold his hand.

I'm sorry, Jordan.  It's hard to watch those we love struggle with it.  xo

I'm not even suppose to know yet.... but he smokes like a chimeny and I won't be able to hold my tongue much longer. I'll be looking for Allen Carr's book... My friend (Chuck) doesn't go online at all.

Thank you guys for your support. I can do nothing but give him the info. I know that.

You're quite right - you can do nothing but provide him the information.  And set the example of the quitter you are.  Badgering him willl get you nowhere.  I hope he "gets it."  And I'm sorry for him and you.

Jordan, I am so very sorry about your friend.  Your blog brought back so many terrible memories; my husband had lung cancer a few years ago.  Sending all of my prayers to you and your loved one.
