A little stronger now

I was really proud of myself last night. I was out with a non-smoking acquaintance who does not know that I used to smoke and recently quit. We were standing outside of a bar having a drink, and he bummed a cigarette from someone while I was in the ladies. When I returned, I was shocked to see him smoking and then I was overcome with a desire to ask for a drag of his cigarette. But then I just said NO to myself, and I remembered that I don’t do that anymore.

Instead, I asked him: “Why are you smoking?” and “Do you feel better now?” I felt SO GREAT saying that! Every time I encounter a situation like that and succeed, I become stronger. So happy!

Good job.  I don't do that anymore, so what am I gonna do?  It's a powerful thought.

I feel that my nicotine intake is my responsibilty.  My wife smokes so it is still around the home even though she smokes outside.

My point is that I have to be mindful of the phrase "if you hang out in a barber shop long enough you'll get a hair cut".  I feel free of nicotine, for the most part, but I'm still mindful that I need to stay connected here to get my thinking straight.  It's a lot easier for me to do it that way instead of whiteknuckling it.

Once again, great job and thanks for the uplifting blog.

WOW, I am really proud of you, how funny that neither one of you knew that the other smoked.  I am really happy for you, that's a big step, Amanda and you are stronger for it.

BIG TRIGGER TOSSED OUT OF THE MIND!  Poof it's gone.  And you're still smoke free.  How cool is THAT!
