A good night's sleep

I found a way to have a better night's sleep:

  • Find ways to use up the energy. Something I need to do when I am not working my night shifts.
  • Go to bed later. I recently decided that 11pm works well for me so I am not awake in the middle of the night.
  • Drink 1 to 2 cups of Chamomile tea beforehand. This also could help reduce depression, anxiety according to some online research. I found that this also helps me remember my dreams. Works pretty good for me.
  • Avoid alcohol and cancer sticks
  • Go to the doc and find a temporary sleeping tablet. Atm I take Zopicolone, which has a very small dosage. Small. But mighty. Works for me. This is also a big one because I used to take anti-depressants and they used to be the ones that helped me sleep. But made my mood worse after 12 years.

ATM I feel pretty groggy. But I strongly think it's the morning side effect of the Zopiclone. I'd rather feel this than not being able to sleep properly or being addicted to something. My mood is pretty good now and I feel like I am in more control.

@CrazyQuitter Hello, this looks like a great plan. You might see if you can take your sleep aid earlier that might cut back on the morning grogginess...just an idea. Congrats on your smobriety!😃❤️🐕🌋

Always good to have a plan.

I have also heard that you should avoid screen time...phones or computers or tablets for two hours before you plan to sleep.

Zoplicone is a highly addictive drug as are other sleep aides and you can become addicted even more quickly with the addictive nature one has . I hope your dr knows your full medical  history before prescribing .

Quitting smoking  and being allergic to many medications  has helped me in a way that I read labels,  ask questions about side effects etc more than ever when I'm prescribed anything !

I like the idea of you not drinking and having tea instead to get a better sleep . It would worry me if you take this drug and drink . I hope your dr again knows your history .

The world is changing .. seems to be in control we need drugs . That's scary to me .

@Maki  Chamomile tea is made from a flower and has nothing addictive in it naturally and does not conflict with prescription meds. Done a lot of research. I have been smoke free for 9 years. My DR knows my medical history.

Do you take melatonin?

A study conducted long ago of nurses  determined that those who worked at night had a cancer risk more than usual rate.  They thought it might have something to do with melatonin, light and unusual  sleep cycle.
Melatonin is a sleep regulator and not like a sleeping pill that makes you drowsy.

Just a thought…  I have never worked in medical field but I do take melatonin.

Hello!!  I'm glad you are sleeping better!!  I take Zoplicone as well.

It might take you a bit longer to wake up in the morning, but I swear by it.  Watch your alcohol intake while you are taking it tho.

The nights I had alcohol I didn't take my pill.  I've taken it many years.

Well, you are doing great!!

Christine

most sleeping pills are addictive, but not sleeping properly for a long time is also harmful to your health.

Yikes , you guys scare me lol so I'm glad I only have to worry about not smoking and I won't address 🍹 or prescription drugs anymore on the site .

I'm grateful for my doctor then as they were up front with me about zoplicone and got me off of it years ago . I was told by the original prescriber because I asked , but they said it would not do any harm in a low dose and was not addictive.  They lied.  It is highly addictive according to the doctor I have now had 11 years and most doctors here now won't even prescribe it . Just sharing my story . Also , my heart specialist will see a person who is having heart issues but will not fill any prescriptions if you take a  sleep aide.

My doctors are keepers. I guess to each their own .

@CrazyQuitter  I wasn't referring to the tea I as referring to zoplicone together with drinking liquor and it does make you drowsier and not recommended  .. I had to verify that for myself . I only care about you as you previously mentioned yourself in a post you had an alcohol problem . I read back on your previous entries .

I don't have an alcohol addiction , but as mentioned knew someone who did .

One was only a weekend drinker , but an addict . This other fellow ( not walking now ) was a binge drinker .. he uses a walker now . Also my nieces Ex  husband  was / is an alcoholic and because of it has lost his wife and child . He kept the booze , the gambling addiction , the smoking addiction and was on prescription drugs and anti depressants . The other a young Lawyer, she denied she had a problem or needed help . She died 😞

If you are in control of your drinking good on ya . I am too . I have an occasional drink and can leave it for months . When vaping came out though , my addictive head went to the word "safe " automatically . Glad I didn't listen to it. Had I it would have just been a substitute addiction and I knew it .

Anyway just know that I cared and that's why I responded . You are such a nice person .

Not sure if everyone knows but melatonin is a hormone and not a prescription drug.  Available over the counter.

A lot of doctors recommend it.

I staying out of this medical discussion, but wanted to share I just saw this on news the other day about melatonin.

@Barbscloud @Oh no!!!

A Neurologist just recommended up to 10 mg of melatonin for patients.

The articles do not state how much is TOO much melatonin.  I do take 3mg every night.

Also the Mayo article also states, “Don't use melatonin if you have an autoimmune disease.”

So much confusion!!
