A Puzzling Situation

Since my quit date I've picked up some new hobbies: puzzles and audio books (in tandem). I have discovered that over lunch, I get obsessively into my puzzle and don't even think about smoking. I've had to put an alarm on my phone though, so I don't puzzle way past my lunch time. It's so satisfying! Also, I've been listening to Agatha Christie's biography by Laura Thompson and it is so good. I just got through the description of her mysterious disappearance for 11 days.

This smoke-free life is pretty good, y'all. Also, if any of you are nerds for Agatha Christie and want to gab, hmu

That's wonderful! Whatever you can do to keep your mind focused on something else is the BEST feeling.

LOVE IT!!  You're doing great, and your new "addictions" are self-improving, not killing you   .

For those puzzlers with no space, or who are on a break at work, there's this... can be adjusted to skill level and time allotment

What a great distraction.  I'm not a puzzle person-I prefer video games.

Puzzles are GREAT distractions!  (Thanks for that site link! marciem‌  I've used Free Online Jigsaw Puzzles  but jigzone looks like a lot more fun!)  Keep playing, keep free!

My husband and I---and the kids when they were home---used to put puzzles together all the time. We also loved board games ( still do when we all get together at holidays). I am TERRIBLE at jig saw puzzles though and I am only ever assigned the "edges"......it is all I can do. Both puzzles and board games are great activities for keeping hands busy AND for keeping families talking to one another rather than staring at screens!

Good going on your quit!

I got into listening to pod casts for my work/lunch breaks to fill my void of not smoking.

That was the hardest thing for me was to figure what to do on my work breaks

Glad you got that covered with the puzzles and audio books

OxfordComa‌ and Giulia‌ ... I'm not familiar with the site Giulia mentioned... Jigzone is great, you can adjust the cut and sizes to your own skill level and/or the amount of time you have to play.  There are bazillions of different pictures to puzzle.  You can also, if you join (free) upload your favorite photos and  have Jigzone cut them into puzzles... so you have infinite puzzling options.

Boy did I use that site early in my quit... ANYthing to keep from smoking!!

I thank Oxford for reminding me how much I enjoyed that site, I hadn't visited there in quite a while!

At Jigsawplanet.com you can design your own puzzle from a photo for free.  Which is really neat!  https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=createpuzzle&ret=%2F
