Q: When is it OK to drink alcohol early in your quit?

A: NEVER! In the first five months of your quit, your quit needs to be your #1 priority. If you absolutely MUST drink, limit yourself to ONE! You don't really know what your tipping point will be (the point at which your addictive mind tells you it's OK to have 'just one' and you listen to it!).

Thank you Nancy, drinking alcohol just isn't worth jeopardizing a quit I agree remaining smoke free should definitely be the # 1 priority because going back to day one would really suck big time but another day WON is super fantastic!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
