It’s been years since I first started
A smoke and then a quit
The very first puff I ever had
I thought that it was it .
It was just a playful thing
An experiment , Kids often do
Curious what it tasted like
Could I blow smoke swirls too ?
Then years of addiction followed
And it was Halloween night
Death was sneaking up on me
Disguised in a tube of white .
I prepared a coffin for me
Started digging six feet down
A puff , my diagnosis ,
Etched upon the stone
Strangled by addiction ,
Robbed of breath and life
I stood completely shaken
10/31
Halloween night .
Now 11 years have come and gone
Again , its Halloween night
Revisiting this story
Revised to see the light
I saw addiction for what it was
A costume : deceitful and thief
And I came-back to bury it
10 / 22
Halloween night .

Have a fun night to all those of you who celebrate this day and stay save ..
Enjoy the sweet kiddos . They are so excited . Staying smoke free is the best thing you can do for them and you .
I will never forget when Candy cigarettes were introduced to the world .. isn’t that just sad . Ya I was one kiddo who wanted those .. thought I’d be an adult like mom and dad . ( both smokers) .
I am staying home tonight .. saw the wee ones In the mall yesterday . So cuuuute . We don’t get kiddos at the door as there is something called Halloween alley here where every house is elaborately decorated . They do the same at Christmas . I really love walking the Christmas time one . It is so cheery . I love that season .
