Wow!!! The last 7 days have just flown by!
Let's start with my sister. As some of you may not know, my sister Sandy was diagnosed on 7/28 with Acute (AML) Leukemia. She's been in the hospital since that day and it has been and uphill battle.....she started retaining fluids and her kidneys were shutting down, she was in pain, she had a high fever, they had her on pain meds and antibiotics, etc....she was soooo high on all the meds that she didn't know where she was. She is 5 1/2 hrs away from me and her daughter (my niece) who is a doctor (thank goodness) kept us informed several times throughout the day by opening an acccount on a website called care pages that lets you post updates on your loved one and we can leave messages that she has been passing on to my sister and her husband.
I wanted to leave and go there right away but my niece pointed out that she is going to have a long road ahead of her yet (bone marrow transplant, chemo, etc) and she'll need someone to help her so I'm "scheduled" to help starting Monday, August 15th for the week....so I've been busting my butt to get everything at work caught up. I'm actually going to start my vacation this Thursday and won't have to be back to work until the 22nd.
If worrying about my sister hasn't been enough, a classmate of my sons was killed in a car accident early Sunday morning on a dirt road by Hartford.....had just turned 18 yrs old. So, of course, now I'm paranoid every time my son is driving to and from work and to his friends' places.
In fact, I've been so occupied with things that last night was the FIRST time I've gotten to sit down with Shannon and talk and have an ice-cold Miller Light together....that should tell ya how busy I've been!!!LOL! (Tommy - we were in the Legion having a beer and it's down in a basement so no cell reception.....sorry).
To all of YOU who have stopped by my board to say "Hey" or have called or emailed or texted and most importantly have prayed......THANK YOU!!!! I'll be gone next week and hopefully after that things should quiet down a bit....so you all have one week to enjoy some peace and quiet and then I'll be back on here and I'll be looking to make up for lost time!!!!!!!
