A Good New Day

Good morning.  Read some great stuff on this site from long term members and refocused myself, rededicated myself last night to being smoke free.  And wow does that feel good this morning.  I read from @Giulia that 'if you are still hankering for a cigarette, you are doing it wrong' (maybe not an exact quote!)  And I have been doing it wrong the last couple days.

But realizing once again that I am the one with the power to refocus my own thoughts, to redirect my attention away from false ideas I was entertaining about the so-called friend, who is really a fiend, cigarettes--that is so empowering.  I am an addict but I choose freedom.  And while there is a certain level of dicomfort in becoming free, being miserable is not mandatory--as I've heard people say, "misery is optional."

It is good to rededicate myself whole heartedly to saving my own life, and to living the life that I have as the best me that I can be.  Today.

"I don't do that anymore"

I am 59 years old and love my four dogs and two cats, all strays I couldn't turn away. I love to be outside in my yard, watching the birds or puttering around in the dirt. I am so grateful that I let go of those inner voices that kept telling me, It is too late to quit smoking, or, Why quit now? I am so looking forward to being smoke-free.
