90 DAYS TODAY! And my first reward!

Ok.  Yes its late.  Yes I'm running on fumes.  But I am just so happy because since 7 minutes ago it has been 90 glorious days since I have smoked a cigarette!!  Its a direct result of coming here, putting together an EX plan, tracking my smokes, identifying my triggers, cutting out all the things that would cause me to want to smoke in my first 30-45 days, and every day after that PROTECT MY QUIT!

Aside from the countless personal thank you's I owe to so many wonderful people here (I'll blog more tomorrow).  I just had to share something:  For the last few days, I dared to dream about what I could do to treat myself once I made it to the 90 day mark.  After all, I've saved close to $1500.00 in my quit.  Should I go on a vacation?  Buy a new TV set?  Fix up the other car?  Get a gaming system?  I had no idea.  Then, today.  An opportunity knocked that I couldn't possibly believe!!

I am getting a puppy!!!  I haven't had a pet of my own since I lost my best friend and confidant about 4 years ago.  I am getting an 10 month old Mastador.  This relatively new, very strong, smart, and unique breed is part English Mastiff, and part Labrador.  A very good friend of mine got her a few months ago, and just had to move to a smaller place and cannot keep her.  He called me tonight, and asked me if I wanted to give her a good home.    She's crate trained, housebroken, had her shots, and I'm getting her spayed.  I'll post pictures later this week!  The irony of all this.  Guess what her name is?

Karma.

I couldn't be happier!  Off to obedience school I'll go with her, and she'll be my little big girl who can help me look after my sons.  I know this is all mushy and probably is making some of the guys on here gag, my apologies.  But at 90 days smoke free, I am a very proud papa!  I promise pics later this week as the transition is made!

Thanks again to all of you, for everything you've done and continue to do.

You are so good for the ex community and I so much appreciate all you do to inspire and pass the message to us that it is possible to quit, to stay quit, to enjoy life as ex smokers, and to lighten up when we need to!! You rock!!! The ex community would not be the same wihtout you. I'm so proud of you! Thank you for all you do. Thank you for just being you. And I'm happy for your sons that they can grow up with you...an ex smoker who has heart enough to put them first. And Karma....How cool is that??? Can't wait to see the pics of your new pup. Oh, that's simply wonderful! I know that breed gets very large, and your friend was probably very worried how to get this puppy a good home, knowing they get so large... No More Worries!  Losing a family pet is something my family has gone thru, and finding a blessing in a dog that really needed us as much as we needed her has proved a very good decision. We've had her for almost 5 years now, on Oct. 20, will be five years, and I just know you will love this dog.... And her name is so fitting for you and the circumstances.......... Congratulations on your 90 Days and on your beautiful new addition to your family!  -Kim

"Mushy"  ~~~ Isn't that an appropriate term to use when getting a dog??   "Mush"!!   oh no, wait,,,thats a different dog breed!  🙂

Congrats on 90 days...huge milestone!  3 months!   and who cares if one is mushy or whatever trait they have and whatever they choose to reward themselves with ~~  The big point is you've done whatever it takes to remain smoke free,,,and now you get to bask in your accomplishment and how cool is that???!!

Congrats! NOPE & NEF!

Hooray for 90 days and Karma!  My husband and I are companions to 2 Cavies and know the joy of their friendship.  Can't wait to see the pix as I've never heard of such a "pup", but know she will be a big 'un.

Congratulations on 90 days.  Great job.  And congrats on getting a new friend.  Only I hope you are not going to expect too much from obedience training.  You're girl will be very loving and loyal.  She stay with you and mind what you say...to a point.  She is probably also going to be a little stubborn and independant.  She'll love to play, but not so much mind.  Just saying, from what I know of both breads.  German Shepherds are know for being obedient dogs, but mine has a stubborn streak in him a mile long.  That has cost me a great deal of money and grief.  Take care.
