This week has brought a lot of unexpected stresses with concerns about my dad’s health and having difficult conversations. I was feeling very anxious and upset yesterday and chose to distract myself by watching a movie and doing some deep breathing. It helped with releasing the ball of tension in my stomach. This morning I stayed in bed way too long and woke up wanting a cigarette. But the thought was fleeting and I didn’t go tearing around the house trying to find my husband’s cigarettes which I have been asking him to hide from me. I had a conversation this morning that cleared the air and made me feel better. So I am learning that this too shall pass is always true. Last night as a distraction I signed up for the app DuoLingo and started learning Swedish. It will be a fun diversion for a few minutes a day I think and it is something I am looking forward to. My dad lived in Sweden when he was younger, and it will be something fun for us to connect over.
