Good Day, Ex family, I'm so sorry I haven't been able to post for a few days but I'm ok and still smoke-free! over the weekend I had some really bad cravings to the point where I  was on my way to the store to buy a pack I was halfway there and my conscious started eating at me so I turned around and went back home and started raking the yard and breathing in and out and  after awhile I had forgotten about even wanting to smoke. Most of my mornings started off hard because I always had a smoke before I even gotten dressed for work but this morning I woke up early took a shower got dressed and on my way to work I thought to myself ( WOW! you didn't even notice a craving) I'm even thinking less about smoking. I've had some dreams about smoking , and my body has been feeling different but I'm maintaining.    I also have the site on my phone now and I'm keeping myself educated ...all I can say is thank you to all of you for your encouraging words and checking on me I know I haven't been able to respond to all of you but I do read everyone's post and I really appreciate you all! without your help, I would, not of been able to get this far...

A big CONGRATULATIONS on making it through hell week!! And awesome that you reconsidered getting that pack - you beat back that demon! Remember when you think about smoking - play the entire scenario through in your mind. From buying, opening, lighting, how that first drag is gonna taste (AWFUL!!), how the nicotine is going to feel hitting your brain, and most importantly, how you're going to feel about the decision afterwards. Keep strong going through heck week - it will continue to get easier!!

Congrats on completing the first week! I am a day behind you! I'm not going to lie and say it's been easy, but I just keep reminding myself of all I have gained!!!!!!

You're just getting started.  The rewards increase unbelievably from what they are at week one.  You're still nibbling on the tip of the appetizer.  No pain = no gain ... but the gain is worth every unpaid crave.

You are right on course, Tyra!  Keep your sights on the horizon and your chin up.  Yesterday a week, today 8 days....before you know it you'll hit double digits, then triples.  And on and on it goes.  And it keeps getting easier.  But always watch your back with this addiction.  'Cause it loves to pick on our weakest moments.  You're doing great.  Keep doing it!

Marie1970‌, petbo5‌, and jbliesmer‌ You are ALL doing a seriously great job, it's not easy in the beginning but I PROMISE you that if you stick with your quit and this site, you will be amazed at your strength, your growth, the things you will find out about yourselves.  All of those coping mechanisms that we stuffed into cigarettes are still there and we are so much stronger than we knew when we were feeding the addiction.  Freedom is very rewarding.  I love that the three of you are so close in your quits, support each other and KNOW that every person here has something to offer!

About the Author
My Name is Tyra I'm a 47 year old mother of 4 Daughter's ages 25, 21 and 15 year old twins i'm also the Grandmother of two Grandson's ages 4 and 9mo. I started smoking at the age of 15, I have not really tried to quit but I know i have too and even though i'm scared as hell to cut the cigarettes out of my life I know it's time to end the friendship. My quit date is approaching and i can't believe how nervous i am, I feel like i'm losing a friend (dose that sound crazy?) I have come to realize that smoking is just as addicting as any other drug and has control over my life and i want to take that control back.
