September 1st is the big day and I'm ready. More and more the smokes are tasting terrible which is a good thing. I still have a problem with my lunch breaks at work, but I will find a way around it. I've been reading "The easy way to quit smoking" by Allen Carr and it is making a whole lot of sense. I should finish reading just a little bit before my quit day which is what he suggests so I figure I'm on the right path so far. I know I can do this.

I'm so excited for you! Sept 1st is right around the corner!!! Sounds like you've prepared yourself pretty well. I've heard of Allen Carr's book. (Mixed reviews). Some say it is very inspiring. Some say that it can set you up for failure- because it demeans your image of yourself. I'm not really sure why that is since I have never read it. I'm really intrigued to read it now since you've already read it. Are you going to use any meds, gum, etc.? I used the gum. After about 2 1/2 weeks I switched to good old fashioned Wriggly's because the nic gum was disgusting. I would rather fight the ugly head of a craving than chew anymore of that gum!
*If you can, start building friendships here on EX. They will be great support to you and be encouraging to you throughout your quit. I couldn't have made it through my first week without friends like you ;0
(I just started surfing groups and introducing myself and sending friend requests)

Hey Bekki, So I actually quit a few days early. I finished reading that book and it had me in such a good mind frame that I figured why go buy one last pack of cigarettes just to get to my quit day? So now I'm on day 4 and I've only had just a couple of cravings. I'm feeling good. My husband hasn't started to quit yet, but he's giving me his full support and I suppose he will quit when it's his time.

I don't thing the book demeans your image, but I understand where people would get that feeling. I personally thought it gave me what I needed to know that I could be the same person I am now but without the cigarettes. It goes back to not everything will work for every person. It was a good book for me because I'm not able to use any of the medications and his book really focuses on how to quit without using anything to help you out.

Hope you are still doing well with your quit.
