5 1/2 hours into 1st day of my Quit, I'm surviving - didn't think I would. 1st time that I've been able to go 5 1/2 hours without a cigarette (except when sleeping). Hope to continue on with the day smoke-free and then on to tomorrow. One day at a time though. Not using any NRT products, decided to go "cold turkey".  HOPE I MAKE IT!!!!

HI!  Congratulations on your decision to quit and for following thru!  Change your thinking (we call it self talk) from "Hope I make it" to I will make it!

Just in case... blog here 3 times before you make a choice you wish you didn't and wait for responses. Someone is usually here.

This is a great place for support. You CAN do this!

Check out quitsmokingonline.com for a wonderful, relatively short,  course that will help you commit to your decision. Congratulations on 5  1/2 hours. That is the way it goes. Your cravings will pass and before you know it that turns into a day. You are doing it.

Congrats!  Find your "inner Yoda" -- do or don't do, there is no try.

Cold turkey is tough. Here's some motivational reading that can help you get a handle on the emotions you'll be feeling:

There are other good ones too that I'm sure other members will post... I don't have the links at my fingertips right now...

Congrats, and we're here for you whenever you need us!

I stayed clued to my computer and this website when I first quit, and I used chantix, now almost 18 days quit, the website that Sarah suggests is really good and easy.  It's not that hard once you committ, good for you:D

You know what? I smoked for 40+ yrs and am quit now for over 90 days. It gets easier. But let me tell you, we're addicts. Pure and simple. We'll still want to smoke no matter what. So our challenge, our truth, is to stay quit by our own inner fortitude. Our own capability to tell ourselves("self talk") that no matter what, we aren't going to smoke. It isn't an option anymore.

Yes, it's difficult. I am struggling myself today. Most days, I don't anymore but today is difficult.

So I'm on here, trying to encourge you to quit, stay quit and come here for help before you smoke again.

This is what I do. And am doing.

We CAN do this.....
