3 WEEKS

Still going.  Don't know how but I'm still without a cigarette.  Hardest times are (1) when I first get up(no change there, still working on it), (2) having a cup of coffee(now I eat instead of smoke), (3) sitting around(hobby is running but I can't do that all the time), and (4) driving - suggestion for driving was to play music very loud and sing along.  That works sometimes but I need to remember to close the windows when I sing  so I don't bother the other drivers.

Congratulations Tar_Heel for 3 weeks of Freedom...you are still early in your quit and it takes continued work ... you will get there, just continue with NMW NOPE...and be proud you are doing it...~ Colleen 249 DOF

How about an audio book to listen to in the car, or count the red/blue/white cars you see, or number of pickups, or number of tractor trailers?  Or make up a story about the folks in the car next to you - are they happy with each other?  Why or why not?  Are they looking forward to their destination?  Do you think they are a family, or co-workers?  Why?  Make them a soap operator story!  (get the idea?) You should also keep a cold bottle of water in the car from which to sip, and maybe some flavored toothpicks to chew on.

Congrats on THREE weeks!

Isn't it nice to count weeks instead of days? And, soon, you'll be counting in months! I play fb games in the morning with my coffee and when I'm just sitting around.

Woo hoo, congratulations on three weeks!  I had to remember to close the windows too when I sang in the car...hahaha, I think people tried to change lanes.

Good job,

Big congrats on 3 weeks.  I kept my sour patch kids and straws to chew on in the car.  That really helped.

Three weeks is great!!!  Way to go, you   I used to get up late so I had to rush to get kids off to school and me off to work...I didn't have time to miss having a cigarette.  I also kept a small bottle of bubbles in the car and I blew bubbles while waiting at stop lights.  (I rolled the windows down so other drivers could see them, too).  As for sitting around, how about a stress ball...just something to keep your hands busy.  So many people here have so many great tips for getting through those tough times!!  I'm sure you'll get a list full

Congrats on 3 wonderful, smoke free weeks!!!  You're doing this!!!

Three weeks is fab!

Here's an idea to alter focus:  Take a medium size rubber band.  Loop it around your thumb, then across the back of your hand and around your pinkie.  Squiggie it down so it's sitting as low as possible across your hand.  Now - try to get it off with only one hand.

Congratulations on 21 days.

That is when it about finally sunk in that YES I am going to be able to do this.

I started to relax a bit and begin to enjoy myself

Life does get better and better as a nonsmoker

And N.E.F how hard those 1st few weeks were  so you  never go back to starting over

Not sure what your response was as it didn't show up, but I hope it was a positive one!
