26 days...

With 26 days, I am nearing No Man's Land.  Feel like I'm in a vulnerable place because the memory of how sick I felt last time I relapsed has faded somewhat.  Having some strong cravings.  Need to journey forth and make sure this is my forever quit.  Smoking cessation class at the hospital is tomorrow--so glad I have that.  The weather is warming up.  Glad baseball season is looming, but hate the hot weather that is coming around the corner.  Still, grateful that I am not slogging through snow.  I hope everyone has a great day!

June, stay strong, hang tough and know that each one of us are here for you. I am glad that you have the smoking cessation class, I hope they have a sponsor you can call if you need someone to talk to and come here and yell help if you need it. Smoking is the worst possible addiction a person could have. I really hope that our young people do not start smoking so that they never have to go through the h#ll that we have to endure with the cravings and withdrawals that we have to. Try to think positive and go through the withdrawals and know in your heart that they will pass the and you will get stronger. I know that NML is a horrible, rough place to be but you are strong and I know you can kick but and get through it and get to a good place in your quit. I know right now the lightat the end of the tunnel is bbarely flickering but give it time each day it will get a little bit brighter and at the end of NML it's going to be quite bright and you will be smiling my friend. ☺

Good thing about the hot weather and not smoking - you won't stand in the heat and sweat while you smoke.... AWESOME..

You got this.

Good morning, June.  In the beginning, I was very unsure that I would make it.  I am now at 522 days.  Keep coming here everyday it is "quit insurance."  At some point I came to a gentle ACCEPTANCE, that no matter what, I WILL NOT SMOKE AGAIN.  I wish you the same grace. Give Milo a kiss from me. (My dog is so much healthier since I quit smoking.  Also my house plants!  I believe in you!

Hang in there Lady! I remember hitting snags about that time period. Well Everytime I was about to cross a milestone really it seemed I would get hard craves! Remind yourself it WILL pass and you don't do that anymore!!! Lean on us and stay with it!! (((Hugs)))!!!

Good morning, June -- I am at 76 days, so I'm pretty much right in the middle of NML and I will tell you that the good days far exceed the bad ones -- I've had 2 bad ones in the 46 days I've been in NML -- that's completely insignificant.  And holding on to the image of how bad you felt when you relapsed is another form of quit insurance -- don't let it fade from your memory.  It's what spurred you to come back and try again!!  Congrats on your 26 days and I know you'll keep stacking them up!!

AND - just think how nice it will be not to miss a minute of the baseball action this season.  No hearing the crowd roar from a distance, knowing you might have missed the only run of the game!!!!

LOTS of reasons to stay quit.  As long as you are prepared for NML, it will have no power over you.  Don't give it any!  There may (or may not) be some intense craves - but keep those distraction tools handy and USE them if it gets tough.  Be sure to come here and blog HELP B E F O R E you smoke!  Give us a chance to talk you out of it!

You CAN do this - just keep telling yourself that!

June...go back and read your blogs, read how sickened you were when you slipped, remember that this is a journey and that you HAVE to put one foot in front of the other, one day at a time.  No one can do it  FOR you, seriously, you have escaped severe damage so far, don't tempt fate.  Please value yourself.
