2 days smoke free

Hi all !

I'm on day 2 of my quit. I have quit 3 times before and hoping and praying this is my last one.

I bought the patch through Amazon 2 weeks ago. I started with 14mgs because I smoked about 1/2 pack a day mostly in the morning. The mornings have been the toughest. I am pushing through it though.

Hi Kim and welcome! Congratulations on 2 days. I quit many times before as well too. What worked for me this time, was educating myself on my addiction. We suggest on here to read and learn. Here is my link that has valuable info.

6 D's (when you get a craving, urge, thought)

   DELAY
   DISTRACT
   DIAL A FRIEND
   DEEP BREATHE
   DO EXERCISE
   DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Congratulations on being smoke free for 2 days. One more day, and the nicotine will be gone from your body.Keep that quit going. Read the materials that the elders will post links for. The materials have helped a lot of people.

Change your morning routine up. When I first quit i would get my coffee and go in my bedroom and have a couple sips then hop in the shower, i would drive a different route to work and crank the music. It does get easier and better. Stay on the smokefree path.

Louise gave you excellent advice.  Try drinking your coffee with your OTHER hand, in a different room. If you used a mug - try a cup and saucer.   Change up the way the room looks - maybe move the table and chairs so your view is different?  I came to the site with my coffee in the early days and read Allen Carr or the blogs and responses.  Some have chosen to get out first thing and take a quick walk, then come back and shower and then get some coffee (weather may not permit that now, though).

The idea is to make NEW non-smoking associations to replace the old,  smoking ones.

Each day this will get a bit easier, and you will get better at changing things up and distracting yourself through the craves.

Hang in there!

Thank you to all of you for the kind words and great advise!

Today is the 4th day smokefree. Although I am doing the patch at 14mgs, it is still a challange. Certain times of the day are a challage expecially the times I would take a break and smoke. Not sure why it hit me today but it did. I stuck a jolly rancher in my mouth and pushed forward.

Thanks much!

Kim
