130 Days (4 MONTHS + or -) My Challenge To YOU

I CHALLENGE YOU NEW QUITTERS TO GO 4 MONTHS.

That may sound sound impossible right now but

you will reach a point when you are asking "how long is this going to take before I don't often think

of smoking or myself as a smoker?"

Well after 4 1/2 years on quit smoking sites this is my answer.

I can't tell you how many people send me a note after they reach this point and say

"I was so upset when you said it takes 4 months."

"It made me want to go 4 months just to prove you wrong.

But you were so right on"

Hey people

You smoked for a heck of a lot longer than 4 months.

Take The Challenge!!

The Gauntlet has been thrown down!!

This is your Life!!

Almost there Dale! And so far so good. Won't be long before I'm another one telling you that your right! One of those truths that we should all hear as we continue on the path because to think that all we have to do is get the nicotine out of our system and we're home free can be some very dangerous thinking.

When we know right up front that this commitment is a bit longer, it empowers us to complete the journey while understanding that we're no different then the next guy. It helps us to know that we too can do it!

And I can say from experience, those first months in the end just fly by!!

GO FOR IT!!!

I accept the challenge.  I am glad that this challenge was made via a blog and not face to face.  I don't relish the idea of getting slapped in the face with a gauntlet(although at times it may take just that).  🙂

About the Author
Hello, My name is Dale. I was quit 18 months before joining this site and had participated on another site during that time. I learned a lot there and brought it with me. I joined this site the first week of August 2008. I didn't pressure myself to quit. HOW I QUIT I didn't count, I didn't deny myself to get started. When I considered quitting (at a friends request to influence his brother to quit), I simply told myself to wait a little longer. No denial, nothing painful. After 4 weeks I was down to 5 cigarettes from a pack a day. The strength came from proving to myself, I didn't need to smoke because I normally would have smoked. Simple yes? I bought the patch. I forgot to put one on on the 4th day. I needed it the next day but the following week I forgot two days in a row I put one in my wallet with a promise to myself that I would slap it on and wait an hour rather than smoke. It rode in my wallet my first year. There's nothing keeping any of you from doing this. It doesn't cost a dime. This is about unlearning something you've done for a long time. The nicotine isn't the hard part. Disconnecting from the psychological pull, the memories and connected emotions is. :-) Time is the healer.
