12th day...

Just woke up.  I don't feel like having a cigarette which is great.  I find the sooner I get up & get into the shower the less I feel like a cigarette.  WHich is weird b/c I would always want to smoke right after my shower.  But then I hated smelling like nasty cigarettes.  I don't miss the crazy "post cigarette rituals"  Since I had quit smoking for 3 1/2 yrs.... up until this past January, I knew what it felt like to not smell like cigarettes and my husband & I both loved it.  So, when chose to pick up a cigarette again, I hated the smell/taste of it. I would smoke and then brush my teeth, have a mint, put on lip gloss/chapstick, wash my hands, put on hand sanitizer (alcohol seemed to get rid of the smell), put on lotion and use body spray.  If I was at home and had a cigarette before bed I would do pretty much all of the above things plus take a bath/shower & I would either wash my hair or put scented powder in it and comb it through.  Wow, now  it sounds even crazier when I write it out! LoL.  Now I don't have to do all that... saves alot of time!

Wow, that's quite a ritual. I thought it was a little weird when my wife would spray her clothes with Febreeze at work. They have a strict no smoking policy and her boss threatened to write up employees for smelling like smoke. I can imagine that you have quite a bit more time without having to do all that.

Great job on day 12. Keep posting. I know I enjoy reading them.

this is funny.. Anyone ever make sure that, when stepping out from work to have a smoke, to check the direction of the wind, or if there was no wind to keep moving to stay away from your own smoke?!? then have to go back inside and go through the masking rituals.    Insane!!!   Not smoking is much easier in that respect.

Congrats on 12 days! I totally understand your obsession about getting rid of the smell. I swear I should have owned stock in Febreeze!! I doused myslef in that stuff before I went anywhere! Your blog made me laugh - remembering that craziness!! Thanks!!
