120 Days!

Wow, so much going on that I completely forgot about how many days I have been a "non-smoker" until I saw a post on FB.

Well, let me tell you, 2015 needs to get onboard with some positive things!!  Let me tell you how Friday, May 15, 2015 went for me.  My husband totaled his Durango trying to back into garage at work.  The throttle stuck while in drive and ran into overhead door of building not 20 foot behind the one where he works.   The airbag deployed and there was so much dust, he thought the car caught on fire.  He had just moved his head closer to the window so he did not have any facial lacerations.  He does have abrasions on his left arm from the airbag, so we spent the morning in the ER to make sure his hand was not broken.   Bad sprain from jamming against the door.

Next our friend and yacht club commodore was visiting clubs alone during their seasonal opening in his center console fishing boat and stopped at a restaurant we all go to.  He posted "Clear the air" at 6:53pm and was found shortly after 7pm floating in the water near his boat.  We are all so saddened by his death.  Do not know at this point if it was from a wave that may have knocked him in the water or a stroke/heart attack.  He did NOT drink while operating his boat and was an experienced diver.  He was 62 years old, just sold his business, was in the process of selling his luxury boat and purchasing an RV to travel.  God choose to call him home.  We are all shocked.  He was a kind, good man who left his mark on the world.  May he R.I.P.  He was buried today.

Lastly, I went to a "reunion" of sorts on Friday evening against my better judgment and had a pretty good time.  Unfortunately for me, the next day, I had a blister on a bunion from the platform shoes I wore.  Didn't think anything of it until I noticed it on Saturday while shopping.  Well, by Sunday evening, I was in excruciating pain.  I put Holy Water on it along with a corn starch paste after soaking and it is much better, but very sore.  Who would have thought.

Well, that's my story and why I've been off the grid.  I have NOT smoked and am truly GRATEFUL each and every day for my blessings in spite of myself.  I hope you are all doing well and continue to sieze each and every day.  We are blessed!!

Carpe Diem my friends!

Oh lady, you have had a rough few days.  I am so sorry about your friend, that's terribly sad and I am sure it leaves everyone with questions about what happened.  It sounds as though it was fast, whatever it was and, like you said, he was called home.

Congratulations on 120 days, you are ten days from exiting NML!

Sorry about your husband's accident, that really sounds terrifying, it could clearly have been so much worse.

It's good to "see" you and hear you sounding so very clear in your commitment.

So sorry about all the stressful events that have been going on in your life.  Smoking would not make any of it better - but you know that!  Congratulations on 120 days!

I am so happy to see NO mention of wanting to smoke through all of those trials and tribulations!

Sorry you have been through so much - glad you didn't need to smoke over it!

Wow -- sometimes it seems like it never stops, doesn't it?  I've had periods like that, when I thought "okay, it can't get any worse," and then it does.

You're doing fabulously in your quit, my friend -- knowing that smoking doesn't help anything becomes really clear when we're stressed.  I know you'll find that things do improve, and as you stack up the days in your quit you'll be right there to appreciate them!

I'm sorry for your loss, hardships, and hope your husband heals well.

Hardships and loss abound and yet you put your strong foot forward. God Bless and be with peace. Smoking would only be another hardship so congratulations on your resolve and diligence. 120 days is a tender, delicate time making your great accomplishment that much more valuable.

I hope your week winds down quietly and your weekend brings peaceful acceptance along with a quiet rewarding strength sometimes needed to make it through hard times without smoking.

I know you have that strength.
