10 days cold turkey

Well, here I am on day 10. I have not used any medication and it seems to be going well. I am a little nervous about the holiday season and in my mind I already want to change my quit date until after the New Year. I still can't believe how strong of a grasp this habit has on me. I have smoked for fifteen years and it's like losing my best friend. Toothpicks have been my crutch and they do seem to help. And now, I have started to eat when I get a craving and that is the last thing I want to do; give up on unhealthy habit for a different one. Someone tell me; which is the lesser of two evils??

The thing that I am noticing now and really helps me to stay quit; THE SMELL. Oh lordy, does it stink!! I can't believe that I never noticed it and that people could actually tolerate being around me if they didn't smoke. How gross!! I promised myself that I would not be judgemental about other smokers when I quit, but, I can't stand that smell and sometimes it triggers me to start thinking about smoking. If that makes sense.

I decided to try cold turkey because I seem to have relapsed in the past when using nicotine replacement medication. I figured get all the nicotine out of my system and it should be easier to beat the cravings, right? WRONG. It's just as hard as any other way, the only difference is I am saving money already! LOL.

Whatever way you go when you quit, you will do it. I believe in you so please believe in me.

Good night and good luck.
