I made it a week! I was going to post last night right when the clock struck midnight (I actually did put out my last cigarette prior to my quit day at midnight, unintentionally), but y’all, I had a great day. And I had gotten in to bed a little early and definitely fell asleep before I could post. But I did it! One week! I even posted about it on Facebook so my friends and family would know too. The only people who knew prior to that were my husband, my friend Laura, and my mom. But everyone has been incredibly supportive there too.

There was one moment yesterday that was interesting. My husband and I were running errands and it was the first time we were in the car together since I quit. We took my car and I didn’t tell him not to smoke. I was kind of curious to see what would happen: would he refrain on his own or is this something I’m going to have to enforce? He lit up shortly after leaving the neighborhood. I think because I was mostly expecting it I didn’t get triggered, or at least not in an unbearable way. It was a minimal craving at most so it wasn’t bad. When we got to our destination I mentioned it to him. I did tell him it wasn’t his fault because I didn’t tell him not to, and because I still sometimes go outside with him when he smokes especially if we’re in the middle of a conversation, I didn’t expect him to assume it would be any different while driving. He did look pretty ashamed and apologized profusely and he asked if he made it worse. I told him I did have a craving but I was ok. I mostly just wanted him to be aware of it. I did let him smoke in the car for the rest of the outing but I let him know that once I get the car detailed there won’t be anymore smoking in my car. And he completely understood.

I’m proud of myself for getting to this point and for now making it through day 8. I am starting to feel better overall too. I feel like I’m getting healthy again and it’s wonderful. I’m ready to tackle another week!
