This last one below I am real excited about.....I bought some ginger root at grocery, soaked it overnight and planted it sorta like you do Iris. Did this two weeks ago and now a green shoot has finally appeared!

They can do a lot of damage in little time. They turn onto a moth eventually after they spend there winter in their cocoon.

Plant sweet basil near your tomato plants, and those horned caterpillars will stay away.  Next year, I plan to sow the basil seeds in the greenhouse.  When we plant tomato plants, the basil seeds will have already germinated and be growing some leaves, and smelling strong enough to annoy those critters.  It does work - I tried it this year for the very first time, and have no problems now.  They drop enormous sized poops - just saying.  hahahaha

THANK YOU for that tip....I will and I saw the poop! Well no wonder. They should be called Horn pigs!!! I check on my garden everyday and yesterday morning when I went to check and found this caterpillar he had finished off 2 large stalks!!!Leaves and all!

I saw the poop all the way from California.

Great Job!

My squash garden has been sadness this year. Tons of bees and plenty of moisture, but no fruit from my squash. Flowers and greens galore; the plants are beautiful. I grew bush green beans for the first time and they were great. I only planted a few just in case they didn't do well. I'll definitely do those again. A couple weeks ago, we scattered turnip seeds where the green beans had grown.

I'll keep trying!
