Let's Get Moving Part 3

Jump to solution

'The original idea was to "get moving" at least 4 times a week, staying accountable to each other.  Post your accomplishments in the comments. This is the original blog link if you would like to clarify the guidelines

Let's Get Moving Challenge - EX Community.   Any activity counts, as long as you get off your butt and get your heart pumping.  Who knows, maybe we'll lose a little weight or a couple of inches in the meantime.  I hope placing it in discussions this time will work better than a blog post where there were so many entries and becomes harder to locate.  Let's see if we can keep it on the board often and easy to find.

I believe we got sidetracked when I suggested doing other challenges and those challenges were not conducive to everyone. My fault. Lesson learned.  So I am hoping we can get back to doing what "you" do instead of a specific routine.  Got it?.   In the previous post, there were a lot of comments to go through to come up with this list of who participated.  Hopefully, it will catch on again.  Of course, sometimes we got off topic which can happen.  This post really kept me motivated and we had a lot of fun while learning a lot from each other with over 2519 comments on the first blog and 1072 Let's Get Moving 2018 - EX Community  on second blog comments. So let's Get Moving Part 3!

Welcome to our Get Moving group! I sure hope you are either doing an inside walk OR you live somewhere with a temperate climate because it is going to be 3 degrees here tomorrow.......it was a balmy 21 today when I set out. I only walked a very short distance.....it was just so cold. Went to the gym this afternoon and walked three miles on the inside track. Boring but it gets the job done...with heat!

Thanks , this will be fun .

I used to have no problem motivating myself to excersise but my get up and go got up and went somewhere , leaving me behind .

It's time to catch up .

Being accountable to others and myself helped a lot with my quit , so knowing others are walking this journey togerher ( a walk across the miles so to speak ) will be an inspiration for sure .

I am ok with cold weather walks , but love the hottest part of the day walks the most .

Today I did a thorough cleaning of the second half of my downstairs, including baseboards, shelves, pictures in frames, chair and table legs, etc. Did the first half including the bathroom yesterday.  Moved for about four hours!  Tomorrow I will tackle the second floor - which is about half the size of the first but includes a full bath.  Will be nice to be DONE after getting the Xmas mess put away.

The ortho released me from the fractured kneecap on Friday, but wouldn't give me a PT referral.  Now - I have kept this leg straight for six weeks, and he doesn't think the infrastructure for the knee needs strengthening?  I HATE doctors!  I will try to get something from my GP - because I know better.  I need somebody who knows what they're doing to keep me under control - left to my own devices, I will always try to do too much!

JACKIE1-25-15 - I am wondering how your sister is doing?  Thinking of you both!

Commitment and being accountabile to all of you has been helpful for me this Day 1 . One step at a time .

I looked up Jessica Smiths 1 mile walk and talk series on u tube today then did a one mile walk with her and peanut and 1/2 hour on the stationary bike . Slow but steady they say . It's a start .

I used to do the stationary bike every day while watching television and before long was doing 1 1/2 sometimes 2 hours total throughout the day .  Instead of sitting on the couch I sat on the bike and pedalled . It's amazing just doing that how quickly I began feeling better and even losing a pound or two .

Congratulations to each of you on your amazing accomplishments . I've been reading the posts. You guys rock !

Well I am hitting the slopes tomorrow. FINALLY, as a former ski patroller , I am so excited to be able to go ski again. It has been a little over 10 years. I had to stop due to MS symptoms/balance issues...but I am cleared now to go being in remission and am SO EXCITED! I will be cautious and take it easy, sorta. I grew up on skis so I am hopeful tomorrow will be a glorious day!
