Please check your Community Profile to see if you've indicated how many cigarettes on average you smoked per day. Then go to the My Quit Stats tab in your profile to see how many cigarettes you have avoided or put the mouse over your username and then click the little "ex" button in the lower left of the hovercard pop-up.

Welcome to the EX Thovis!  Keep up the good work.  In the past I tried several times to quit also and what worked best for me is just to do it.  Along with the help of everyone here.  Stay positive, its not always going to be easy but remember everyone is here for you to help you through them trying times.

I need advice on how to quit smoking.

LandB.  That’s a hard one but based on my own experience, maybe you’re afraid of failing.  We’ve all been there.  We quit and go crazy for a few days until we give in.  Then we feel horrible about ourselves.  I’ve been there.  It’s just easier to avoid the whole mess.

It’s funny how our brains work.  We can convince ourselves of pretty much anything.  I’ll bet you can convince yourself that you don’t want to smoke anymore.  Think about all of the reasons you hate smoking and recognize it when you’re doing them.  For example, I hated smoking in public.  I felt like a lesser person when others walk by.  I hated leaving friends at a table while I stood outside.

And remember a slip up is just that.  It’s not a failure just a stumble.

Mines stress smoking

It’s a mental game so you have to dictate your thoughts.  It all starts and ends there.  One thing I did differently from other quits...   I am not avoiding those things that made me want to smoke.  In the past I would avoid coffee and alcohol.  I figured out that this was making me quit doing things I liked because I was afraid.  I’m just learning to enjoy things without the smoke.

Smoking adds to stress.  We have be lead to believe that it takes the stress away but it is only temporary because you have to get another fix.  We smoke when we are happy-sad, lonely etc.  How can one thing fill so many voids?  Education is the key to a successful quit. Read study research.  Hang out here set a date.  Have no fear.  Fear is false expectations appearing real. https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/groups/best-of-ex/blog/2013/08/11/foundation-for-a-successful-qui...
