Made Me Think.....

Today as I made my pledge, I saw Giulia's and her thought-provoking question: "........Why are you pledging today as opposed to yesterday?"  Hah, serendipity, as just yesterday I was asking myself why do I pledge here every day even if I'm running late!  It's simple; making a promise keeps me from the temptation when those nagging thoughts appear!  I know that if I were to cave in after making a pledge, a promise, I would feel like doo-doo in spades!  Apart from letting myself down, I would feel that I was letting my friends down too.  This is one of those "good" mind games that works for me! Whatever it takes eh!

I am a transplant from England and came to California in 1973; became a citizen in 1985. I have promised myself I would be a happy non-smoker by my 70th birthday or sooner - April is getting close! I started smoking at age 15 and like many others have tried to stop several times. This time I have a very different attitude and I am looking at this as a positive move to regaining my freedom as opposed to losing something by giving it up.
