#5 is alive!

I am on day 5 and it's my first weekend in my quit.  I get through craves by deep breathing but it's the actions that get to me.  Well, surprise surprise, I am able to sit on my porch with a cup of coffee and no smoke; I can step outside and breathe in the night air without the ritual of lighting up and then getting back inside to catch my TV program after the ads!  Allen Carr's book says not to change your life, to still do the things you enjoy and I'm glad I tested this out.  I have not come across anyone actually smoking yet so have not tested the waters there - that's not far away as there are 3 of my co-workers I used to take some smoke breaks with now and then. Fortunately, we take breaks at different times and I have my quit buddy to go on breaks with, I wonder how he's doing.

About the Author
I am a transplant from England and came to California in 1973; became a citizen in 1985. I have promised myself I would be a happy non-smoker by my 70th birthday or sooner - April is getting close! I started smoking at age 15 and like many others have tried to stop several times. This time I have a very different attitude and I am looking at this as a positive move to regaining my freedom as opposed to losing something by giving it up.
