Share your quitting journey
Today is the last day of my vacation. This vacation was scheduled back in March. I always take the week that our wedding anniversary is in. Gary and I went out for prime rib last night! I got a lot done around the house in preparance for my knee replacement surgery on the 10th. Found a walker at Goodwill for $9.99, they cost $25.00 to rent. Did a LOT of walking Monday and I'm still paying for it. I go back to work tomorrow but only have to work 5 days then I'm off for surgery. I took extra time off before to make sure everything was done and ready. I'm glad I quit smoking because don't think, for one moment, that I wouldn't have shuffled to the back porch with my walker to puff away. It'll also make my hospital stay easier since I won't be jonesing for a smoke. I have 11 exercises that I have to do after surgery. The nurse suggested we start them early to build up muscle. I started yesterday and I'M SOOOOO SORE! I have to do each exercise 20 times each and some I have to do twice since I'm having both knees done. Please pray for my husband. I'm a handful on an everyday basis let alone quitting smoking AND major surgery. On a happy note, I found out he quit smoking cigars too! I've been so focused on ME that I didn't even notice. I did notice the car did reek anymore but figured he quit smoking in there because I grumbled about the lingering smell. He said it didn't seem fair for him to keep smoking while I was quitting. I have been smokefree for 44 days! I feel better already! I can breathe deeper, the wheezing is all but gone and I no longer cough for the first 30 minutes of the morning. I used to cough and spit for 30 minutes, gasping for breath only to light up the second I was done..... I'm still learning to deal with all my emotions which is proving to be JUST as hard as quitting smoking! I buried my emotions in a cloud of smoke......
