Waking Up

I'm really dragging this morning on day 6 of my quit.  I'm not a morning person to begin with, but since I've quit the fog sticks with me.  My usual routine has been to get up, stumble into the bathroom, then head to the couch and flip on the TV for a few minutes.  Fifteen minutes after I got up my head was clear enough and my cravings were insistent enough that I got up to have my first shot of nicotine of the day.  That ritual not only answered my need for nic, but helped me wake up.  I was then ready for my shower.  But I don't have that now!  And it's Monday!  I need my morning drug!!!  I won't give in, but to re-word an old song, "waking up is hard to do!"  I will keep my quit.

I was a closet smoker from the time I first tried a cigarette at fourteen years old. It was going to be a one-time experiment when I was by myself, just to see what it like, but it didn't work out that way. Forty-seven years later, after countless attempts to quit smoking, I finally was able to quit smoking on 9/12/18! I couldn't have done it without this site and the wonderful people who are here.
