Making Changes

I have started making changes in my life that are positive and make me happy. I have started walking outside, even though it is cold. It feels good to get out and move especially when you can breathe easier. I breathe easy just knowing that I do not have to smoke anymore. I have started eating breakfast for the first time in a long time. I had a banana and 1/2 a serving of oatmeal with Apriva sweetener. I was going to have a full serving but decided that I was full before that. I have stopped drinking soda and caffinated beverages. I find that I cannot sleep if I use caffeine, therefore it is worth the mild headaches getting over not having it, so that I can sleep. I have stopped using sugar. I am not talking about natural sugar in fruit or whatnot but I mean added sugars. I have started drinking a lot of water everyday along with non-caffinated tea. I have lost a considerable amount of weight in the last couple of years. I lost probably 40 pounds just last year. The way I did it? I stopped reading diet and exercise books! I figured out that I had to learn how to do things my way and not some super strict way that other people say to do. Those books all contradict each other anyway. So I only eat when I am hungry, I watch my portion sizes and I quit eating before I am full. I quit thinking about how I could not lose weight. I quit thinking about how I was not worthy of feeling good in my own skin. I just decided that I was nor going to continue in my sickness. I have been very obese and I have been exremely underweight. I am still obese, but weighing in at 190 pounds instead of 250 pounds feels great. I know that I can do this. I have determination and control. I know that this process is not easy, but it is doable. Most recently the change I have made is quitting smoking. I feel wonderful and it is the morning of my 3rd day smober! I have started to love my life and I feel free!!

I am a 33 year old woman who has smoked for 15 years. I started smoking when I was 18 yeats old. Sadly, I started smoking because no one ever asked me to smoke cigarettes or anything else, so I took it as an insult and started anyway. How is that for insight...
