Evenings are the hardest

I now have 21 Days of Freedom - 3 whole weeks nicotine free! I find that I'm okay during the day because I have morning routines and I can keep busy until about 3:00 or 4:00 every afternoon.  That's when the urge to get in the car and drive to the store hit the hardest. It would be the easiest thing in the world to do. I run the scenario through my mind: get my boots on, grab my wallet and keys, drive to the store, use cash or debit card.  I mean, I run every detail through my head. I can even visualize myself on the front porch, wiping the snow off the outside ashtray I keep for visitors, lighting up.

And then I don't.

That's it. I don't get my boots on. I don't grab my wallet and keys. I keep the car in the driveway. I keep my lazy ass in the chair. And I stay free.

I became nicotine-free on Christmas Day 2017. That's what I use as my quit date. I had smoked cigarettes for 45 years, then vaped Juuls for a few months before quitting cold turkey when I used up my supply of pods. I am a retired widow, living in Upstate NY.
