Quit Day 11 - NRT free Day 5

Have kept extremely busy today.  In fact, I’m really, really tired right now.  Wanted to write a bit about my nicotine-free brain. From 7 am - 4 pm I was, for the first time, thinking clearly without nicotine.  It was such a relief to NOT have to plan my day around keeping myself full of nicotine to feel normal.  It was also a relief to NOT feel cravings at all.  Ok, I might have had one craving episode when I became tired at 4 pm.  Then I got cranky.  Still didn’t want a cigarette but could tell my brain was still adjusting to being nicotine-free.

About the Author
I am a 55 year old health care professional and have considered myself a non smoker my entire adult life. I was a runner (and smoked), yogi, walker, exerciser, clean food advocate, etc. But smoked secretly anyway. It is the nicotine I’m addicted to, not the habit. Quitting nicotine makes me feel so uncomfortable and disoriented. Have used patches and lozenges. Patches kept me awake at night so became addicted to lozenges years ago when quitting. Am now back in the same predicament. Quit again today and am back on lozenges.
