re: points and levels

Hi Mark I like gaining points and going up levels. I find it encouraging and it makes me feel generous giving some points away.  I had a really good day here yesterday and was 27 points short of level 6. Today I am still on level 5 with 3,623 points and a staggering 2,977 points short of level 6. There's got to be a spanner in the works surely?

Glad it is encouraging to you.  It is that way for some and not that way for others.  Do whatever works for you!

Sorry that you lost some points.  This likely resulted from the departure of a member who deleted some of their posts. see https://excommunity.becomeanex.org/thread/16413-points-again which also addresses this topic.

Regrettably, when someone deletes their content and you have commented on things, your posts (and points) go along with it.  Not ideal in my opinion, honestly unfair, but that's how it works as of now.  Hopefully in the future things will change to prevent that from happening.

Hi again Mark had I lost points I would have joined elvan's discussion. Have I misread something or are not 3,623 points enough for level 6? Your explanation doesn't address the fact that I was only 27 points short of level 6. I should add I didn't lose points I gained an unlikely 800 😕

Yes 3,600 should be Level 6. My apologies, apparently I was reading too fast.  Do you know if you just got over 3,600 today or was that yesterday?

Mysteriously 3,623+2,977=6,600 which is level 7. So perhaps a misprint.  Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Hi Mark I just checked the community leadboard and everyone with 3,600 points plus is at level 6 except for josnyder72 and me. We seem to be stuck on level 5. Can you give the machine a nudge? 🙂 please.

So I looked at it and you have 300 awarded points that contribute to your 3,623 so technically you only have 3,323 earned points.  josnyder72‌ also has 300 awarded points and that contributes to 3,618 so earned points is 3,318.

I think when you get 3,600 earned points I'll look at it again and see if it moved...

Waiting on an official confirmation but if that's true it's good so people can't "game" the system.  It happens in other communities though I don't suspect it will likely happen as much here.

Hi Mark just out of interest and maybe towards a better understanding of the points system I earned 6 points today

after not earning a bean for three days and this seems to have been enough to nudge me to level 6.  

OR have my 300 awarded points matured into earned points behind the scenes?

Looks like you and ryan44‌ have now powered up to Level 6 but josnyder72‌ is still at Level 5.  Peculiar.  Thanks for the update.  It's being looked into.
