Bugger, Burger, and Bother. My sister-in-law, who was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer, began chemo this week. She said she would never do chemo; what's to do but duck when the bullets fly? She is 1537.7 miles away. Much further than a smile will carry me.

My sister is also is dying. Big big bummer, two times.

But my sister and I can crack a joke whatever the distance. So there's that. She had a biopsy on her liver today, 1339.4 away. Her doctor says she had less than a year to live. Like he knows my sister, the Christian Queen Fighter Bee from Hell. She will or she won't die on anybody else's terms. Whether she lives to be 100 or dies within the year, we know how.

Today I dreamt or understood that life beyond this life, is. Not like heaven, which waits for both my sister-in-law and my sister. Not like the nothingness that some I love embrace. No, something that god whispered to me in a dream when I was 6 or 7 - something that is my own destiny. And that's a blessing.
