They have a live streaming feed of an eagle's nest online every spring (the link above is the one from the National Arboretum in DC) , and you get to watch the eggs being laid, sat upon (the parents take turns), turned, hatched, grow up and take their first flight. The most amazing thing I saw was their practice for flight.....they would get a running start at one side of the nest and flap their way to the other day after day. Eventually, they just stood on the side of the nest and took that leap of faith. I understand from my reading that, in fact, not every flight is successful. I was lucky enough to be watching two that WERE!
Kinda' like quitting smoking? You practice and get as ready as you can and then, in the beginning, you just flap the heck out of your wings, learning to fly without the safety of the nest.
Even if you are afraid, take that leap of faith. I am here to tell you that, like my eaglets, you can soar!
