Recovery Super Star!

I was released by my surgeon today to SWIM LAPS (and the water at my outdoor pool was WONDERFUL!) The original date for this to happen was November; he called me a “recovery Super Star!” I credit three things for this incredible healing: 1) quitting smoking, 2) being in good shape before the surgery, and 3) the prayers offered on my behalf from all my friends on this site. I still have PT ahead of me, and I will be careful how many and what kind of laps I do ----- but this progress is AMAZING!

Let this be a word to the wise. There are a LOT of things that will end better and be easier if you take the steps to quit smoking and exercise (and – BONUS – exercise helps you quit smoking!!!) I am proof positive!!!

Thanks to all who have supported me during this difficult time.  Your thoughts, prayers and beautiful and silly pictures made many a day brighter for me.

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
