I don't see any minus points but I THINK it is when you give points away.....so under the Daily Gain it would show a minus. When I give points away, it shows a minus for that day......unless I "gained" more than I "gave away". I THINK this is why.......although I don't know for sure. So I am going to try an experiment and you see if it works Nancy. I'm going to give you and Elvan points and see if then there is a minus by my name.
So I got a little bit more information on this. I've found out that when people delete their own posts/comments and there are comments associated with those deleted posts/comments that the points earned are lost as well. Similarly if you create a post and then delete it, the credit you earned for creating the post is deleted when you remove it. Similarly if you are awarded a points for someone liking or indicating your post is helpful, if that designation is changed, then the points are deducted. With that being said if you created things last week but deleted them today then you'd have a gain last week but a loss on the day you deleted them or someone else deleted your comments that were children of their comments. The only way you overcome the daily gain/loss is to add more points than you lost on a day.
I haven't looked at what gifting points does. I'll probably test that tomorrow. I don't have any test accounts with significant points to test it with. The leaderboard is calculated only twice a day so even if you gift someone points you may not see that reflected in the gain/loss until up to 11 hrs and 59 seconds later.

No-----that doesn't seem to be the answer unless, as Mark said, it takes awhile for the minus to show up.
If you're watching your points on your profile you should see points disappear immediately for any deductions that are made however the leaderboard is only updated twice a day so this is why you may see some disparity throughout the day where the points in the leaderboard and your profile do not match.

Hi Mark when you say
Similarly when you create a post and then delete it, the credit you earned for creating it is deleted when you remove it.
Sorry, but does that mean points are deducted if a post is deleted before the post is published? I often write a comment and then decide not to add it. Or when I click add comment I get the 'theres a problem with this page so its reloading' message and when its reloaded my blog or message has disappeared.

Nope if you're just drafting something you don't get points. Not until it's published. Once it's published then points are added. If you delete it, then the points are deleted. So if you create one thing and delete it the same day without doing anything your net would be 0. If you create something today and do nothing else and gain no other points you would be positive for today. If you then delete that post tomorrow and do nothing else tomorrow then your net would be negative. If however you have gotten helpful or likes on your post and you delete it tomorrow you'll lose points both for the post and for whatever reactions/outcomes got assigned to that post.
Make sense?

Yes thanks Mark. It makes sense. So, if I am not losing points by deleting before posting and I haven't given points away (my bad) recently, I wonder what I did to lose 32 points overnight.
I also wonder why I am concerning myself with this but like xjamarkx said in a blog, it's encouraging and fun to get points.
Not so when they are taken away.

As mentioned previously. Points are only calculated twice a day and there's no way for me to see specifically what points were deducted for. It's sad that people are deleting their content and in turn deleting other people's posts as well. What you post here is helpful to the people here and also to the people in future so deleting what you wrote isn't beneficial if it doesn't exist

Oh how sad. I think a member has deleted all his posts...bar one. His posts made me stop wallowing in my own stuff and really want to reach out and give him a hug. I owe...him even though I lost points too.
Perhaps that is what happened to mine. I didn't delete anything. But, if someone deleted their blog and thus the comments and I had gotten points for a comment - that would have done it - correct Mark?
Hey, I don't have a fitbit either, I am on facebook though. You have to watch YoungAtHeart because she is extremely competitive, just ask anyone who was in the Old Lady Caravan. At least these are not COWS!
If I had some points oh I'd point so in the morning
I'd points so in the evening, All Over this land
I'd hammer out points cause I gotta get all I can so when I'm dead and gone
I can will them all to Nancy
Ut Oh, wouldn't it be GRAND?
Yeah
DON'T DELETE!! I wish people could understand that this support group is like words "spoken". You may "delete" the written.......but we still heard youl As I have said many times:
1. Think carefully before you post and don't be hurtful
2. Stand by your posts....believe in yourself
3. If you did "say" (post) something you should not have......apologize sincerely....... and move on.
